Hello All,
On the main screen, under Melody | Edit Melody Track | Utilities | is the Transform waltz melody and soloist to 4/4.
function.
I have a midi Cajun waltz and haven't had any success transforming to 4/4.
I download a 4/4 BB Cajun syle and do the conversion but the melody still plays in 3/4 time.
Anybody ever tried this successfully?

Percy, the Melody track is one of the two "static" tracks in BB.
That is intentional.
The 3/4 to 4/4 transformation can only apply to the Autoaccompaniment tracks, not to Melody or Soloist tracks.
In order to change the Meldoy to suit, you would have to manually Edit the track and add the 4th beat to each bar as a note or rest, or re-record the Melody to suit.

After I convert from 3/4 to 4/4, the time sig at the lead-in bar is still 3/4.
I changed the time sig to 4/4 and the bars do reflect 4 beats per measure. While it looks correct, the melody plays as dotted eights and sounds horrible.
Too bad it doesn't work.

Try changing the style from swing to even eighths. Later, Ray

Thanks for your suggestion.
I had invoked a Zydeco style in even 8ths, but the song still swings.
I'm thinking that this feature is for existing BB mgus rather than midis.
Snowed in and had some free time, but I've had enough. Basta !

Hold that thought, for it is almost there. But reread what I told you above about the Melody and Soloist tracks being "static" tracks. If its an mgu file that has a MIDI Melody part on the track, the automated Waltz/De-Waltz won't be able to change the notation entered on those tracks, but BB might well insert Rests to suit the extra beat, don't know because I've never tried that. But I would think it would be a daunting task for BB to be able to rewrite a 3/4 existing Melody to 4/4 because of the extra beat in each bar. What to do with it? Rest, or Insert a note... My earlier attempt converting a waltz to 4/4 was just some unknown Cajun tune. I just converted That's Amore
and the process makes more sense to me.
The 2 notes that start off the melody...When the...are placed on the 3rd and 4th beat of the first measure, and then BB just puts the rest of the melody, all quarter notes, on every quarter beat of the 4/4 measures.
Not very musical, of course, but it does work.
Your last post made me think about this. Thanks.

Now that you've mentioned that particular song, the real question becomes, "WHY?"
Um, don't call that one in 4/4 at a Philly wedding, paisan, could get ugly...

That's Amore was used strictly for testing and tracking the conversion from 3/4 to 4/4. This way I could track the melody, note by note, and determine how BB handles the change of said melody from 3/4 to 4/4. Um, don't call that one in 4/4 at a Philly wedding, paisan, could get ugly...

Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. And most times when it works it needs improvement. Here is an example in 3/4: I Loaded "You Light Up My Life" with _POPWALZ.STY https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7mm11OTiPxnUFN4RGpiUklVNG8/edit?usp=sharingI tried Melody / Edit Melody Track / Utilities / Transform Waltz Melody and Soloist to 4/4. After the error message "This converts the melody track from a waltz to a 4/4 feel. But first you need to load in a 4/4 style." I loaded a 4/4 Style _GJBALAD.STY, the song was in 4/4 but the melody had not really changed.
