Real Book Software: awful, awful, Awful

Wish I had read this thread before paying. But I strongly advise anybody considering it to steer clear.

Worst:
The piracy protection -- moving beyond the ironic for somebody selling a compilation of likely pirated material -- is so unforgiving that it will not run on my computer without freshly installing it anytime. I got a key from their support that allows me to reinstall beyond the 14 day period.

Second worst:
Support is not very sympathetic. I was good natured and asked them to swap it for one of their products without the protection mechanism. No, buddy, we have your money and you don't. Maybe you should buy a new computer.

Bad:
When it is installed a licensed, it works. But the GUI is very cheesy and the workflow is uninviting. You can sort, listen and view/print the charts (I can until I turn my computer off) but it doesn't feel like much value is added.

Okay:
They've been denigrated on this thread, but I enjoy the band-in-the-box files. Those are just sitting in a directory. They don't connect or index to the program at all -- of course, this is good for me because the program does not work. Saved me some typing -- I'm not pleased that I paid $127 for it but it's keeping me from finding and burning down the dingy studio apartment where this business is surely headquartered.
