Hi everybody,
This is my first post here as a 12-month newbie using BIAB 2013 with a recent upgrade to 2014 and I have also installed the build 380 update. Could one of the kind expert users on this forum please help with my problem as described below?
I have had several frustrating problems over the past 12 months playing along with my songs as many have an almost inaudible count-in. However, I think I have now nailed down the cause which I think is due to a volume mismatch between midi tracks (where I have adjusted the count-in volume to maximum in the Preferences dialog) and BIAB Realtracks (where the count-in volume can only be increased by adjusting the drum track volume).
As an example, I have a recent song made up from one Midi track (Bass) and four Realtracks (Piano, Drums, Guitar & Strings). When I generate and play the song the count-in is almost inaudible. However, if I 'Solo' the midi bass track on the mixer and re-play the track the count-in volume immediately increases to an audible level. Similarly, if I 'Mute' the Realdrum track on the mixer the count-in volume also increases to the same audible level. With all tracks playing again the count-in becomes almost inaudible. You can verify this for yourself by setting up a similar mix of tracks.
I could of course increase the volume of the Realdrums track to increase the count-in volume but then my drums would be far too loud compared to the rest of the tracks unless I took the fiddly route of decreasing the Realdrum volume on bar one of all my songs.
My questions are:
1) Is this a bug in BIAB?
2) To get over the Midi drums/Realdrums volume mismatch problem, can I configure BIAB to always use Midi drums for count-in purposes (where the volume can be adjusted in the Preferences dialog) and then automatically revert to a Realdrums patch, if desired, on bar 1 of my songs?
3) Does anybody have a better or simpler solution to this problem?
4) If I can't do (2) above would it benefit all users if I suggested that a future update of BIAB could decouple the count-in drums from Realdrums so that the count-in could always be heard?

3) -- I haven't experienced this problem at all and don't think it isw a bug as many others around here have not reported such.
If you installed 2014 overtop of 2013 and this problem appoeared in 2013 and continues on in 2014, it could simply be due to a corrupted volatile file in bb and I recommend trying the Options->Return to Factory Settings command inside BB, which will automatically rewrite that file.
Don't be afraid to Return to Factory Settings, that command often clears up all sorts of problems. Even in new installs.
If that doesn't do the trick, please inform as to exactly what you are using for your MIDI synth.
