I decided to run it in admin mode and then it asked to activate it. oops!
Went back to normal and still need to reactivate it. How many activations do I get? I still need to install it on my laptop.
I think these licensing things generally just tend to punish those who pay for the software (ha, ha).

Interesting problem. It's not unexpected that someone would do the steps you did. I suggest you call PG Music Support and if they say it's OK, post their answer here for future reference.

Authorization is "by the machine" and thus not a problem here. Just redo the Authorization on same machine as Administrator, when it phones home over the internet the thing will see that it is simply just the same machine and your other two authorizations will still be available for use on any two other machines.
And pg is not the kind of folks who would do something like you insinuate to any of their valued customers.

Gee, my insinuation is just as unappreciated as your original insinuation was to me. Although I did not insinuate anything, I prefer things to be a bit more point blank than that.
My apologies for taking the time to point out something that, if viewed by a new potential customer, might be taken as a detrimental issue or deal breaker.
Guess the lighten up thing goes both directions then.

1) BIAB is an amazing program and you will almost certainly be thrilled with the results you get (even with the copy-protection they added in 2014)
2) Kevin is absolutely correct to point out that software copy protection punishes legit users! at best it is a nuisance and at worst it can completely prevent you from using something you paid real money for!

1) BIAB is an amazing program and you will almost certainly be thrilled with the results you get (even with the copy-protection they added in 2014)
2) Kevin is absolutely correct to point out that software copy protection punishes legit users! at best it is a nuisance and at worst it can completely prevent you from using something you paid real money for! 3) A different take on 2) is possibly required: Preventing piracy provides a guaranteed return on investment for the company that puts in the hard yards, takes risks, continues to improve their products, and provides customer support. If they earn less income through sales because of piracy, they have less to invest in new development, new features, new products. Occasional inconvenience aside, ultimately, this means that if we all pay, we all win.

I am also curious if you lost an activation because of this... I feel sure PG Music will reinstate any lost installation tokens if the user genuinely had an issue. I'm also waiting for his response to Matt's question - did he get it resolved?

So Kevin, did this work out that you could just authorize again on the same machine, without loss of one of your allowed authorization? I don't know and I am not overly worried about it. How do you check? In any case, I am quite positive that PG Music would reinstate any "lost" activations that I might need in the future.

I guess one way would be to contact PG Music Support directly, provide them with your Serial Number (Help > About Band in a Box will show you your number). Explain your circumstances and ask them to advise you how many activations you have used.

Trying to store authorization serial number twice for the same machine would be like trying to Save two files of the exact same name string in one of your folders. The machine's code won't/can't do that.
Chances that the Authorization could get compromised by using up two or more of your three Authorizations with the same computer's ID number are all but nonexistent if the thing is coded properly.

SsmpleTank is a completely different situation - and company - apart from the BiaB Authorization.
Is all this over the SampleTank/IKMultimedia authorization and not the BB?

I somehow agree with Mac that the authorization system uses machine hardware to identify a computer uniquely. Merely changing the username shouldn't have created this issue, unless say, there was a full reinstall of software on the computer as well.

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass.
