Well, its neck-through plank design, even given the bolt-on neck.

Would work as a stick guitar just as well, although the tin "chambers" on either side of the stick are indeed adding some rather "tinny" sounding resonance.

If you don't have a Scottish Shortbread Tin, look around for other things that you can substitute, tin, wood, cigar-box, etc.

These kind of projects can be fun and informative, not very hard to do, actually, and a guitarist might just have something neat to break out onstage occasionally from it.
