Have at it, especially those running biab on both platforms or under emulation....

Have some friends I'm sure will ask for advice.

It's great. No more windows.

It still not quite as complete as the Windows version and it doesn't have the lead sheet window yet but that will be coming eventually I imagine (if we moan enough).

Other than that it's a huge improvement of v12 and I will be using it instead of emulation or bootcamp (which i've been doing)

I use Midipipe for Kontakt and Garageband for a mix of RTs and midi.

(I'd write more but i've got to get back to using it )

As already mentioned, not all Windows stuff was implemented, hopefully yet, but all the main goodies are there, RealTracks, RealDrums quite a few other things.

No dedicated Audio track as of yet, for recording mic or acoustic instruments, perhaps thats coming up later also, but you can turn your BIAB song into mp3, mp4 or AIFF audio files easy enough now, right inside BB.

Greetings,

I was not selected as a beta tester, but......No Lead sheet window? Not all the Windows features? just went to the new video, the GUI looks 10 years old.......

Sorry to be negative, but I was expecting alot more. I will still get it, because I need it (more because Im sick of Windows)

On a positive note, just glad there is a new working version for mac.

It's fine.

The RTs are such a huge step up that the omissions are not so noticeable.

I imagine any further improvement will depend on sales.

If this sells then we can request some more features for later this year and next.

There are some features in the Mac version not present in the Windows version :

- Easier setup of synths. The Mac comes with a built-in nice-sounding synth, that has low latency, and BB can render directly using this synth. So there is no need for VSC (DXi VST) synth to hook up to, or working with an ASIO driver, or making sure latency settings are correct, or to sync up MIDI with audio - it is already in sync.

- Better Audio render. Much simpler dialog, allowing rendering to AIFF/ or AAC (M4a). Files get rendered about 3X faster, and all in one step, and appear in a single folder.

- Clean look of main folder (organized into folders), only a single file resides in the main folder (the Band-in-a-Box application), the rest are in sub folders (Styles, Soloists, Style demos, RealTracks, Drums etc.)

The main feature in the Windows version not present in the Mac version is audio recording, which we plan on adding in the future.

I'll not miss the audio track recording. If I were to do some recording I'll probably render the tracks, and do the recording in Garageband or logic anyway.
The lead sheet notation window on the other hand, would be a great feature, since it's missing from Garageband.
What makes BIAB unique is the realtracks,-There's nothing coming even close in the music software industry.

There are forums dedicated to trumpet playing, and on one of them (Trumpet Herald), I have on occasion posted about BIAB to answer questions or correct misinformation. One member there asked for details about the upcoming Mac version, and I was happy to give him the links to read about this new version.

You never know where you can be a good representative for PG Music, and from where their sales may come. Having this new Mac version is great PR for PG.

I can't believe how fast I can generate RealTracks and Renders with the new MAC version. I wish there was a way to integrate a soft synth like Bandstand inside BiaB but I tend to use lots of RealTracks and RealDrums these days, so I can get by. I will be telling my MAC friends to get it.

I did notice that RealTracks generation times seemed to be quite a bit faster on my MacBook Pro notebook than my desktop PC Daw, although I didn't have the time to put a stopwatch on them or anything.

Try using using the freeware program Midipipe with the Apple Core Midi. You can pretty much do everything you can do in Windows if you have Mac versions of synths like Kontakt, bandstand, etc. You can even use Garageband to some extent.
