Depending on the sound font..... I found that many of the ones that were free and some that were not, simply did not work.

I used the SFZ player and sound fonts extensively when I first got started since they were a step up from GM synth sounds...

Once I purchased a few nice sampled synths and sound libraries, I stopped using fonts and players and have not loaded one in a very long time now.
