Actually, the scene depicted is not that far away from how contemporary audiences treated Paganini in his day. You get too far out in front of the audience and they can't deal with what you are doing. They declared that Paganini must've been in cahoots with the devil simply because of his playing and execution abilities.

Here the two young cellists morph the music into some juicy AC/DC rockband quotes in a Marty Mcfly style reverse timeshift.

That video is a classic> As Floyd mentioned you have to watch to the very last second. It is hilarious. I love the way their bows become more and more frayed..

The best moment is the lady in the audience at the end, front row, all the way to the right on the screen....

Watching through a few of their AC/DC covers reminds me of the real appeal of AC/DC - simply some of the best riff based grooves in the history of rock. Nothing too pyrotechnic, just impeccable groove/funk. I don't even like AC/DC to the extent of owning any of their material. That said, the riffs in Back in Black are simply the archetype of heavy rock. Listening to them done by 2CELLOS highlights the underlayment that supported the in-your-face vocals. In that song alone exist about 4 or 5 different riffs upon which so much study can be conducted. They both go in front of and sit behind the groove, pushing and pulling the song. So many tidbits of 'wait for it ---------- and there' silence and payoff. Just killer.

'Back in Black' and 'Kashmir' by Led Zeppelin. If I ever lay down a riff based groove that matches even one of the several riffs in either of these songs, it will be a day worth celebrating. I never 'got' either of these songs when they were first released. Only in the last 5 years or so have they really grabbed my attention. I love how 2CELLOS can peel back cover of the vocals in these songs and reveal their underlying intensity.

Another one which is great is their take on Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". In that one they reveal the beauty of the melody in the verses. It doesn't sound so pretty when Kurt Cobain sang it, but it is really quite a beautiful melody. The interval jumps in the melody in the verse, and actually in the chorus are quite nice.

Mac, I thank you for bringing these guys to our attention. With the millions of views that they have, somehow I've been under a rock I guess - never heard of them before.

Then you must have missed this! Two millions views, including prime time TV for the cello boys - got to be something here besides Santana (the young lady in the hat...)

Those guys are amazing musicians and performers.

I wonder if they have a sponsor to pay for all of the bow re-hairing that has to be done? wink

I'm thinking they have rich parents. ;-)

Ditto on the amazing comments. It's one thing to be talented.. its another think to have the audacity to push the envelope and perform with the degree of passion these dudes exhibit in every one of the videos I've seen so far.
