Now THAT is a very good example of the kind of Command Decision process that a great producer has to come to grips with if success is the goal.

One sure way to get mired down in a project is the attempt to permanize an apparent short cut, only to find that the short cut all too soon turns into the longest and most difficult path on the map, one problem leading into another, and yet another, and still another.

Quite often is the case that rolling up the sleeves and doing whatever it takes, such as going back and starting from scratch, rerecording, sometimes having to relearn an old song project, can bring its own rewards as well. Consider that songs recorded some time back reflect past abilities, the same song performed by you today will have the things you have learned how to do better almost automatically introduced into the new performance.

Keep that mindset.

For it is one thing to kick a dead horse, but an entirely different thing to attempt to put a saddle on it.
