Hi,

Band in a Box styles that "play" in 12/8 will still preserve that 4/4 Time Signature, unfortunately.

The 12/8 Feel will be there at playback, though, because the 4 beats in each bar are subdivided as even triplets, yielding twelve pulses per bar.

The music notation, though, will not be in 12/8, which can present problems for the person who is attempting to copy a lead sheet into BB until they learn to come to grips with translating the printed 12/8 into the proper rhythm patterns needed to work that way in a 4/4 "swing feel" triplets as BB notates.

On the other hand, the included RealBand software can notate in true 12/8 as well as allow for Import of MIDI files done in proper 12/8 and may represent an alternative in this situation. Be advised that use of BB Styles within RealBand will be the same problem, though.
