I like the notes of a bass RealTrack but I don't like the sound and tone of the bass used. I don't suppose it's possible, but is there a facility to export the a RealTrack in MIDI form?

There are those who have managed to use RealTracks that are underscored in their green trackname, indicating that Notation is available for that particular RealTrack, by exporting the track as a Standard MIDI file and opening that Notation MIDI data in a Sequencer software and editing the note velocities to something other than 0 (zero) such that the notes will then be heard when sent to a MIDI synth.
BUT -- and IMO it is crucial -- such is not identical to the original performance at all. Note durations, for one thing, are typically not identical. Setting the Velocity for each note to reflect a real performance can be tricky, although there are those various "Humanize" algorithms, bleccch.
In other words, the MIDI data included for Notation in RealTracks is just there to provide the Notation, it is not "performance" data at all.
A good sounding MIDI bassline often will contain plenty of "Ghost Notes" and other intentional additions that will make the part sound much more realistic. Band in a Box MIDI styles contain these such things already. In the past, some have found the Ghost Notes and posted here mistakenly thinking that the program had a bug. But cleaning out those kind of things actually removes part of the realism of the performance.
"A good bass track, when solo'd, sounds like someone's working on a Buick in the background" --Bruce Richardson down in Dallas said that.
But dig this -- If the Realtrack bass you have in mind has a corresponding MIDI style, the Bass can be taken from that style rather easily with BB2014 - and can do the job a lot better in the first place. The rest is up to your particular MIDI synth choice.
Another good way to get a particular MIDI Bass line, such as a hook line for a particular song, is to use the Melody or Soloist track to either record your own MIDI Bassline to suit in realtime, or resort to the slower Step-Entry method using the Notation Editor or the PianoRoll view, cleaning up the Velocity and Duration values using the StaffRoll view, which makes it both intuitive and rapid.

Hi John,
You have Sonar X3d Producer so you have at least the Melodyne Essential. If the bass line is all monophonic just drop the bass wav in Sonar and use Melodyne to create the MIDI version of it.
I upgraded to Melodyne Editor and I have used it to create MIDI versions of bass lines and guitar chords. It is the best audio to MIDI conversion software that I have found and in fact I have had to do none to very little editing of the MIDI track.
On Jon’s Tune, the last song I uploaded here, I did exactly what you are asking. I took my bass line and converted it to MIDI.
Good luck.
