Hi All,
I am about to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 [64 Bit] with a general rebuild of my PC and will take the opportunity to introduce a replacement audio interface. I am proposing to use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 --- I had previously intended to go for the Focusrite Saffire 6 USB until I discovered that it is in the process of being discontinued. I should explain that, under XP, I presently use my Creative Audigy Platinum as interface which works fine, but this dinosaur will not be supported on Windows 7. I did previously also purchase IK Multimedia StealthPedal as a replacement interface but PT and RB refuse to speak to it, though it is fine with Cubase.
In order to avoid wasting money on another interface which will not work with PT/RB, I would therefore appreciate any advice/feedback as to the compatibility of this interface with PowerTracks and RealBand together with any comments on its performance generally. Hopefully some of you out there are using the Scarlett 2i4 and can confirm its performance or otherwise with PT/RB.
Thank you.
Regards, Peter J

Don't bury the dinosaur. According to Creative, there is a Windows 7 driver for the Audigy board. Of course, with Creative, that may be optimistic, but worth a try while firming up on your future Soundcard needs.

Hi LynB,
Thanks for that.
I am keen to retain the Audigy if possible because as well as being an audio interface it also has in-built sounds which I sometimes use when playing midifiles. I will therefore follow up on the Windows 7 driver which I presume you became aware of from the Creative website.
If in my PC rebuild the Audigy can be retained there would still be scope for the later addition of a new audio interface [Focusrite Scarlett 2i4?] over USB should it be deemed necessary. I would still therefore appreciate any user feedback on Scarlett/RealBand/PTracks compatibility and performance.
Thank you again.
Regards, Peter J

Use the search feature in the upper right corner of this screen. It found this, which may be of interest. It also found many more I didn't bother to look at. http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads...true#Post244297Of course I encourage other users of this interface to chime in. /I may be needing another interface soon also, and would prefer multiple ins, so I'm watching this thread too.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

Hi rharv,
Thank you for your post and my apologies for the delay in replying.
I had used Search and seen Pat Marr's post that you referred to and accordingly had sent Pat a private message requesting his experience of the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. Pat kindly replyed confirming that the 2i4 works satisfactorily with RealBand which was what I hoped to confirm.
In posting on the PT Forum, I hoped to identify other users of the 2i4 to obtain their views but unfortunately no other users have posted. None the less given Pat's advice, I am happy to proceed with purchase of the 2i4 in due course.
With regard to your interest in possibly obtaining a new audio interface soon and examining the Forums to help selection, I wonder whether a register of users and interfaces on the Forum might be appropriate. It would certainly be useful to allow problems to be identified/solved.
Regards, Peter J

I wouldn't be concerned about PT if RealBand operates well with that device, because PT uses the exact same engine as RealBand.
PT is RealBand without the Band in a Box features added.
Your selection should work fine with both programs, since it works with the one.

The Creative Audigy PLatinum will work fine - mine does with Windows 7. You'll find some of the Creative programs are a bit iffy - I can't get the full range of addons I used to get that come budled with the Audigy and work on XP and you'll find device manager shows an exclamation mark against an 'unknown device' which is actuallly the Creative Gameport which has been redundant for years!
THe ASIO drivers for the creative card that come with the new driver work fine too

Hi Bob,
Thank you for your advice and my apologies for the delay in replying as I have been away from my PC for a few days. It is good to know that the Audigy will work with Windows 7.
Because of other software and hardware compatiblity problems/uncertainties in upgrading/rebuilding however, I am now checking the feasibility of keeping my existing PC as is and purchasing a new Windows 7 PC to run in parallel. This should make the Windows upgrade less problematic and preserves my access to some existing hardware and software, presently working satisfactorily, which would otherwise become redundant. I think that the majority of my music software will install satisfactorily on the Windows 7 PC so I will then have potential access on both computers.
Regards, Peter J
