OK, what is the trick. I use ACW to interpret all the chords from an mp3 (it does a good job). At the sametime I use it to get a tempo map (but I determined the mp3 is a solid 90 bmp so I do not create the tempo map). So I just return to BIAB with the Chords.
My problem is getting the first bar set so that when I return to BIAB the style playback is in sync with the mp3. What is going on?? BIAB seems to have some two bar lead in that is not accounted for in the mp3. How do I sync these in BIAB? I have moved the "first bar in ACW" but that does to seem to help the situation.
Here's what I have so far:
The mp3 does not start on a downbeat but rather has a partial bar lead in. Oh and by the way, I was able to eliminate the two bar lead/count in for BIAB in the preferences, which helped. But I am convinced that I will not be able to sync these in BIAB, I will have to move the tracks to my DAW to align the measures. Sure wish here was a way to better align the playback in BIAB.

Sounds like you aren't dragging the First Bar indicator from the very beginning of the timeline in the ACW to the point on the waveform right before beat 1 is supposed to start.
Experiment with that setting, it works once figured out.

Mac, you are probably right, but it is just too crazy.
So I am working at it from a different angle. Likely, just as crazy.
I am trimming the mp3 in my draw so the very first strong downbeat is at the very beginning of the mp3. I hope when I insert that into ACW it will behave better. If they sync, then I will move the audio tracks back into my DAW and adjust the timing there.
Yeips... when I stop having fun I will let you know..
I think this is working...

Where is Rharv's video? I seem to recall last time I attempted this it was a help.

Thanks, however, it is only 2:55, and appears like the discussion continues... but it is not all there.
My problem was definitely dealing with the beginning since the song did not start exactly at the beginning of the audio track, and when it did it had some pickup notes before the strong first downbeat.
But like a lot of things in BIAB, I found a way to work around it, in combination with Reaper (that's a good thing btw). I saw what it was doing and edited the mp3 to account for the issues. I think I got it working nicely now. Still a work in progress.

...BIAB seems to have some two bar lead in that is not accounted for in the mp3. Same problem in the ACW_Tempo_Map_creation.avi video it is 2 bars out, you need to insert 2 bars after ACW for the count in. I think after ACW in BB I saved it then opened RealBand set the tempo to the same and Bar Offset to -2, drag the wave file from BB in and move the fist beat to Bar 1 so you have -1 & 0 count in, save the wav as same name then open BB and it will start after the 2 bar count in.

FWIW I had the 2 bar count-in enabled on this 'quicky' video, so I expected this behavior in RB.
I do not know the BiaB solution, but could solve it in RB if needed. It's a simple check box IIRC. Or maybe a -2 as mentioned above.

I leave the countin in place, when importing to any DAW I just shift the track leftward such that it starts when and where the rest of the Tracks do in that particular project.

Ok I tried BB and it will Sync in only if you click make a tempo map after the ACW window. But if you want to get it accurate you would be best to do it in RB like Rharv as you can adjust things so easy.

Unless it was changed it, it seems I recall that BIAB only accepts whole number tempo values, whereas RealBand can use fractional (decimal) values. That's another reason RealBand is more accurate with the tempo map than BIAB. So, if the tempo of the file is actually 90.5, RealBand lets you use 90.5 for the tempo, whereas BIAB would require alternating bars of 90 and 91.

Darn tricky indeed, but bottom line - Not much else comes close to doing what it ultimately does.
I opted for taking what BIAB gave me and moving back into my DAW for the final arrangements. This has been my formula many times, combine BIAB with Reaper - a winning combination.
I am currently working on a collaboration with a singer who needed a piano player to lay down tracks to his project. He has no budget and didn't get any volunteers, so I suggested BIAB. He didn't know of it!!! He sent me a mp3 and asked if I could give him a taste. The first quick and dirty pass sounded promising so we are now in full out mode to make it work. Our goal - make music and have fun.

For this type of work, RB will be far better. As mentioned, the exactness of the tempo map is a key factor.
RB tempo can be as accurate as 90.12345678 for one measure and 90.87654321 for the next.
Also being able to quickly copy/paste a section you like, regenerate multiple takes on multiple tracks to slice/dice as needed, try different styles/variations on different tracks, etc .. makes for a better work environment for this type of work IMO.
