Hi.

Does this happen to anyone else - am I doing something wrong ?

Well, when working on a song in the chord sheet in RealBand, after a while, when I move the mouse, there seems to be a random highlighting of several bars taking place.

I have checked to ensure there are no sticking shift keys (there aren't). It happens quite a lot and not after a selection has been made intentionally.

When I click the tracks view, it shows all tracks selected and the block of bars.

I workaround it by pressing F7 then F8 and also clicking on one track but if for any reason I don't do that, I get a selected number of bars generated that I didn't want.

It seems to be a cumulative thing as it doesn't happen straight away but after a song has been worked on for a while.

I hope I've explained that sufficiently. Does anyone else see this as well ?

Regards.
Mike.

Are you referring to an actual mouse or a touchpad as on a laptop?

Did you try a different mouse? It sounds like your left click is sticking.

Hi Mac. It's a usb mouse connected to a desktop pc.

The best way I can describe it is that when I move the mouse freely, without holding any buttons or keys down, the bars highlight wherever the mouse actually is from a fixed point (bar).

I'll see if I can screen cam this tomorrow.

Cheers.
Mike.

Yes same problem, it is a "What The !!#^#^$" moment.
Not sure if it is to do with the same bug where you click on one window but it will do something on the window behind, like if you have a VST windows open and click on something in it, it will move some tracks on the track window behind.

I have experienced the same thing.

Because Windows tends to be an event-driven environment, and we are used to jumping from task to task randomly, that can cause problems if a procedure is programmed in a way that requires a specific exit in order to completely turn off the procedure and reinitialize the normal state of things.

When it happens to me, I always figured that I inadvertently jumped to something else without completing all the requirements for finishing what I had started.

The fact that some of us experience certain problems repeatedly while others never experience them at all leads me to believe that things like this come from problematic navigation habits.

This may not be the case in RB, but I know its a possibility, because more than one of the systems where I work require specific conclusions to procedures, or problems start happening mysteriously.

Exiting and coming back into the program is the easy and guaranteed way to reinitialize everything. Identifying and correcting the exact navigation habit that causes the problem is probably going to be a bit more time consuming

Thanks Pat. As I say, I have a quick workaround but it's good to know it isn't just me.

Hi S.R.
Yes, I experience something similar or the same with VST's. The VST form is in the foreground, but mouse click events sometimes go to the form in the background, creating minor havoc. Is that what you witness too?

Trevor

Yes and when you try to double click on an audio track to bring up the Audio Edit Window it won't because it's doing something on the window behind, but it comes up when you don't want it to in a VST window LOL.

Yep, that's the one. Have you reported to PG Music?

Yes, but they might be tired of my nagging so you might be good to report it also.

I experienced something like this a while back. It involved the Cut window, but would change the screen behind the Cut window (ie select another track on the Tracks window) when I thought I clicked OK for the Cut window.
When I asked about it back then development said they suspect my mouse is sending a double-click when I intend to single click.

Since logging this into my memory I have noticed other programs sometimes interpret my single click as a double also. I should probably replace this mouse .. but haven't yet.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
