Hello!

I am using Biab version 2014 (380) audiophile edition -
a rookie user from Finland. Nice to meet you all!

I have applied the Audio Chord Wizard succesfully to songs in 4/4 time signature, but never succesfully to songs in 3/4.

This is what happens:
Let us take for example Tennessee Waltz by Connie Francis, which has a clear beat and BIAB can digest it well. I do these steps:

1. Load the song as mp3 file
2. change the time signature to 3/4 (Biab does not recognize it automatically)
3. set the bar one. After this the average tempo is 86.897
4. click "OK - send to BIAB"
5. click Set the song key signature to --> F
6. click Make a tempo map in BB (to sync MIDI with audio)
7. click enable midi style
8. click Close
9. Click Generate and Play

As a result, when I play the song,
- for the first bar, tempo is 87
- for the second bar, tempo is 143
- for the rest of the song from bar 3 onwards, tempo is 108

Naturally the midi is totally out of synch with the audio.

In addition, when I now choose Audio / Launch Audio Chord Wizard,
then answer Yes (to the question if I want to open the existing audio track),
then answer Yes (to the question if I want to preserve chords and part makers),
the time signature is back to 4/4.

What am I doing wrong here?
The same problem appears also if I choose Edit/ Set Time Signature to 3/4 before applying the Audio Chord Wizard.

My first suggestion would be to change the time sig to 3/4 on the original project and save the BiaB file right away. (Save As)

Then open that file and see if it is indeed 3/4 all the way through and if the visual clues make sense.

If so, then try ACW.
This would help test whether the initial import of the mp3 file was affected by the tempo/time signature changes right afterwards.

In my experience, PGMusic products handle audio as a 'triggered event' on a MIDI time scale.
Sometimes this can be very helpful .. sometimes not.

Perhaps saving the time change first will help with the adjustments that follow.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

After you set the beginning of bar 1, how often are you pressing F8? Try using F8 only at the beginning of each major song section or segment (verse, chorus, etc.) or at the beginning and end of a noticeable tempo change.

I've had issues with the tempo doubling when I tap F8 in time with the tempo throughout the song. It's almost like F8 can overload the ACW beat detection.

My guess is you will have to select 3/4 each run. BIAB and RealBand styles are derived from a base timing of 4/4. 3/4 is 4/4 where the last beat is not used. If you have a song that uses both 4/4 and 3/4 time, the 4/4 should come before the 3/4. If I remember, if 3/4 is used first the count-in may still be 4/4.

Jorma, welcome to the forum.

You should update to Build #381 and update your RealTracks.

I would also load a waltz based style before loading the MP3. Just a thought.
