I find audio recording sometimes gets off when something else is going on in the background. You might want to check that out.

Also, how many tracks are you trying to process or play back at the same time while you are recording. You may be overtaxing your computer. One thing I sometimes do is to just generate a stereo track of everything else (and mute all the other tracks...temporarily) while recording something new. Once recorded, I can go back and unmute the other tracks for a final mix with my new recording.

Interestingly, I've found that this sort of thing also happens when there are a number of Microsoft Updates that are wanting to be applied (just my own personal observation). Don't know why, but there have just been too many times when things start getting slow and I notice that the computer wants to reboot to apply updates.

But generally, I don't see much audio latency (versus MIDI latency).
