From the description given, it is not a certain thing that the power amp is the culprit. Might be, might not.

Could also be a bad cable. Or bad connection. Or browned out power at the location.

You should set the PA up again somewhere that allows you to check it out thoroughly before the next gig. Use CD player to check things out and shake it down. If the problem reappears during that shakedown, begin isolation procedures (one speaker disconnect, cable change, etc.) and find out where exactly the problem is happening.

BTW Power Amps rarely create intermittant problems, although perhaps a dirty input control might crop up now and again, power amp probs are usually "it stopped working with a giant buzz and now it won't come on or there is no sound whatsoever).
