I use the sequencer window from time to time after bringing a midi file into biab. I just brought one in and want to use the Play and Show features (from Soloist track Sequencer) for different channels - but to no avail. I even selected to not play and not show all channels and they still all played and showed. I rechannelized them to be sure they did not use the same channel as biab might otherwise use (and I have styles disabled). So it seems I have no Play or Show control from the sequencer Any ideas? Thanks.

Not all MIDI files are created the same.
If your file is MIDI type zero instead of MIDI type one, then all notes are forced to one track, regardless of channel or patch.
Powertracks or RealBand can open these up into separate tracks, resave then to type 1 MIDI file and then try opening the resulting file in BIAB.

Thanks, Mac - The file was saved from Sonar as a midi type I. I just loaded the midi file back into Sonar and all tracks are showing.

*Try a dowloaded MIDI file other than what you have and see if it loads into BB Sequencer and allows you to do what you want. This in an effort to see if it lies in the particular Sonar created MIDI files you have or not.
*Don't forget that whenever BIAB doesn't do what it is supposed to do, the old Return to Factory Settings dance often brings things back to the way they should work. Of course, before doing that I usually try simply rebooting the computer first, which often makes BB work again by clearing out confused resources.

With a little experimenting I think I have solved the problem in a way that is OK for me in this case.
When I did this the first time, I used File/Import Chords from MIDI File (Ctrl Alt I). With this feature you have a lot of control over how the tracks are interpreted and can route any combination of channels to either the Melody or Soloist Sequencer . All was well except the Play/Show features in the Sequencers had no effect - (didn't work).
Then I tried the same midi file but used File/Open MIDI File (F7). With this, all channels go to the Melody Sequencer, and no options for anything. BUT, the Play/Show features work perfectly.
So, I'm happy for now, but not sure why using the Import route caouses the Play/Show features to behave differently.
