Here’s is another song that I just completed using Realtracks (After a lot of cutting and pasting of the tracks). I have been working on this one, on and off for over a month now, think I got the real tracks the way Iike them. I am putting this song out there for you to critique and offer some constructive ideas. AS I have always trusted each and everyones input here. This song was written by a good friend of mine, Everett Adams. http://www.dannyriddle.com/KeepMeOnTheMountain-VOCAL_Master.MP3Thanks again! Danny

I like it. Strong performance in all areas.
Seems to me that you likely already know where you'd like to take it or not from here, so go for it.

Danny;
That sounded real good over here. Was that all realtracks? It was so well produced, I could not tell. Good job.

Another class production, Danny. Very enjoyable! At the very end things get chopped off instead of ringing on nicely, maybe that just happened in the fnal MP3 transfer? Is the backing entirely RealBand? If so PG Music should use it as a demo to entice new buyers! John

If that were sent to a CD publisher it might sound a little slicker, but not much more. This is pretty nearly top quality as I've heard.
How did you do all the harmonies?
Did you play any instrument at all?
In answer to the chopped off ending ... if it was done in BIAB and then Real Band that would explain it. The endings always get chopped off with Real Instruments. It will be nice when BIAB and RB both respond to good sustained endings.

Danny - I'm impressed - good clean production all around. Really nice energy to the vocals. All RTs? Wow. In place of the cutoff ending, why don't you slow fade on a repetitious Chorus (3,4xs whatever it takes). . . it's a strong chorus and would lead your listeners happily tapping, clapping singing exit stage left ....and until PG gets some better RT endings, slow fade is your best option especially with no midi option in that regard. Idea! Since your voice carries this tune so well, it leaves a quiet spot when you're not singing between verses and choruses. How about trying to boost that lead guitar that I hear up to, or near the level of, your vocals in those quieter breaks. That's a very "infectious" tune, my man. Cheers

I have nothing new to add to what has been said above, only to echo their kuddos on your very proffesional sounding project. This project is top shelf all the way.
Congrats!

Hey all, thanks for listening to this song and thanks for all the kudos and the ideas. Yes, this is all Real Tracks - I love real tracks On the backing vocals, it is just me singing along, I always have a hard time hearing the harmony parts, SO it took along time to record each part right. NOW if you listen closly, you will hear a couple female parts, I took a couple parts of my backing vocals and changed the pitch (VST plugin that I have from a couple years ago) to create that effect, does not sound perfect if playing by them selves, BUT when blended in with my other vocals, sounds okay.... The ending, I actually created it that way I thought it would be a little different, I had the drums the same as the verses and took out alot of the intruments. I added some of the instruments back, so let me know how it sounds now. It is in the same spot and the same file name: http://www.dannyriddle.com/KeepMeOnTheMountain-VOCAL_Master.MP3I also took the advise of Ian and boosted up the lead guitar a bit in certain spots... Hope that helps too... Let me know how this version sounds and any other ideas. Thanks again! Danny

 I think you can set this as done, Danny. Balance and clarity is super, ending is much better and the lead boost adjustments work well. Now if you've got 20 relatives who could clap along in the chorus . . . Mind my asking what reverb you used on your voice and what the settings were? I have a difficult time figuring out what levels I should use. It really gives your voice good energy here. Ian

Hey Ian, thanks for the pointers on this song! Now I need to round up 20 people for the clapping The reverb I use on the vocals, is actually a plugin that i have used for several years, Native Reverb Plus. I too never know what settings to use, however the presets that come with the software are fine as they are, I always seem to use the same preset titled "Medium Room Bright" as that one always semes to sound best to me, not over done. here is the link to information about the software bundle that has the Native Reverb Plus plugin ( It has been discontinued - BUT if interested in trying it out, I am sure you will be able to find it somewhere on the net) http://www.tcelectronic.com/Default.asp?Id=12879Thanks again! Danny

Good job with the writing and musical production. The song has a nice sentiment to it and works well as is. Musically a bridge section that goes farther away from verse/chorus you have might add to the song. Also on the third chorus you might break it down - could be vocal only or minimal instrumentation to get us away from the established rhythm pattern (maybe some melody notes held longer than usual) so that we are ready to hear it once again on the last chorus. The singing was super by the way.
