I am saving a stereo mix with plug in effects by selecting merge audio with vsti/dxi plugin as a stereo wave file. When I play the stereo wave file back it is in mono not stereo. To prove to myself that I wasn't loosing my mind I imported the stereo wave file back into real band and it came up as a mono file. Any suggestions?

Update, chatted on line with pg music tech support. No idea why it won't work. Suggested synth problem. I am using the synth that comes with the program CoyoteWT. Is there some setting that needs to be changed? and where would i find it? I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks Rich

Check the dropdown for 'Input Channel for MONO Tracks'. (Set it to L & R for left and right side) Now if you import you should get both channels, but on separate tracks. This may happen (depending on version) if your track type is set Audio MONO. It won't do this in recent versions but there was a period of time where track type was an issue.
You can change this default under the General tab. Or right-click the track and make it Audio Stereo as 'type' if this is indeed the issue.
What version? Do you have the most recent update for that version?

The issue isn't importing. I just did that to verify what I was hearing after I exported the files to a stereo wave file. I select audio and in the drop down menu I choose merge files with vsti/dxi to a stereo wave file. When I play the stereo wave file that I exported it is in mono and not stereo.
I am using Real Band 2013.

One thing you can check is to make sure the MONO button is not selected on the mixer. This would not be likely but possible.
What version patch of RB? This is important because for a period of time what you experiencing was experienced by others and a patch fixed it for most. Again, do you have the latest patch for your version?
Another is your Mixer Output section. But that would be pretty low chance.

If you imported it to a stereo track it wouldn't surprise me. Otherwise, something weird is going on that I can't replicate here in either one of the situations described (using 2015).

I am using RB2013. I am trying to find out which build I have. They are up to build 4. In the dropdown menu it says version 2013 (4). I assume that means build four and I am up to date.

Mono option is not selected in the mixer window. The driver is MME under audio preferences. It is only one of two options. ASIO is the other. MME is on top.

It says Microsoft sound mapper on both input and output. I have two other options . One is the Tascam 2x2 interface I am using. The other is my speakers/headphones from the computer.

Since you now know it was using Sound Mapper, I'd try the other two 'output' options and see what happens. You can always set it back; won't hurt. Change the selection and remember to click the 'Move selected device to top' button before saving. This makes it the new default for RB.
MS Soundmapper means the OS is handling the final audio output and *may* be part of the problem. If neither works, just set it back to the way it was before tinkering with it.

There is an obscure setting in the Prefs area that says 'Allow mono tracks to use DX FX in stereo' (or something close; going from memory).
You mentioned you are using FX so thought I'd mention this setting. Mainly because I have no idea what it does! I've never seen it make a difference in any of my FX that I use, but maybe it's an option to try.
Also, I would suggest removing FX (especially new unfamiliar ones) from the tracks one at a time and see if one of them is causing the issue. Many of us have found weird issues solved by removing a rogue plugin that just wouldn't play nice on our system.

It was suggested yesterday that I try removing effects. I am only using reverb and parametric eq. The eq is a reaper plug in. I will test that over the weekend. I will also check out the preference you mentioned. I remember seeing that as well. I also spoke with pg support and they had me upload the seq file to them to check out. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again for spending so much time on assisting me, Regards, Rich

I tried the no effects approach and checking off "allow effects to be stereo on a mono track". No luck. This program is useless if I can't get this fixed. I am calling PG support again.
Update_ Spoke with PG support. They confirmed they have the file and will get back to me as soon as they can. There are other email request in front of me so I will wait till I here from them.
