This is true if you stay within BiaB or RT: I don't think they have an audio to MIDI converter. However outside of either there are ways.

The best I have found is Melodyne Editer although it can be quite expensive but if one has Sonar X3 the upgrade is cheaper. There are other convters and some are free, google/bing wav to MIDI converters. I have only tried a couple of the free ones a few years ago with some success, i.e. lots of MIDI editing after the conversion however things may have changed completely by now.
