Hi All
Well,I got a touch of GAS today but looking round the room,I can't think of anything music related to buy.
Of course,I want to get something useful but,I have enough guitars (6),and I don't want to
upset the Wife with another.
My computer is up to date with a Quad Processor and more than enough RAM,graphics card is fine.
I can't use an Amp due to the neighbours, so that's a non starter.
Come on guy's give me some ideas.
I'm sure you will come up with something interesting.
Price,within reason, pretend it's you buying it.

Roland VG-99 "V-Guitar" and GK-3 pickup. That should keep you busy for a while, and you can get rid of your five least favorite guitars. You can drive a MIDI synth from the thing, too, so get one of those as well. Terratec Axon 100 Mk II should do it.

Seriously, maybe it is time to invest in some lessons, learn something new and different that will expand your playing and musical horizons. Music Theory, Improvisation, Composition, Playing Techniques, etc.

Alan, get that BOSS Dr-880 - hundreds of drums and bass patterns to noodle along with and stimulate the old creative juices, as well as good enough to record from! Watch those video demos and tell me you're not tempted! I'd be lost without mine!  John

Unless you're nicely wealthy, put the money in an interest bearing savings account. You never know when a few extra dollars are going to come in handy. Several people here in the U.S., including yours truly, has found that out the hard way.

I'm assuming you've already invested in amp simulator(s). If not, the world is your GAS oyster. With no disturbing of the neighbors! To go along with that, I have to ask, do you have a good set of in-ear-monitors? (Disclaimer: I now work for Westone, makers of the world's finest in-ear monitors, IMO).
I've even done the cardinal sin of mixing with my custom 3-way in-ear monitors to great success. My neighbors are none-the-wiser for it.
They can also be a boon on-stage where stage volumes are high - Provide a great deal of volume reduction on-stage. PM me if you have some interest.

Hi Scott
My Amp Sim is still a Vox Tonelab,I have tried Amplitube Fender and I also have Native
Instruments Guitar Rig,neither of them are as good as my Tonelab.
As for the in ear monitors,I much prefer my Phones,for recording work,and my
monitors for mixing,but thanks for the offer.

New monitors would be a worth a thought. Despite the ones you allready have, a couple of reverence monitors could be a nice addition to your setup. (I currently use the M-Audio DSM1 Audiophile.....NICE!!!) As for a vocal harmonizer and a fantastic music toy: the TC-Helicon VoiceLive 2. I'm still exploring all the crazy stuff you can do with that box. It also has a neat display and a set of cool knobs: when placed tilted on your desk it really looks fantastic If you don't have one allready: a controller for your DAW would also be something for you. Something like the Mackie Control universal pro? Want a cool software synth? Perhaps Steinbergs HALion symphonic orchestra is something for you? Oh, and a neat electronic drumkit to create your own drumtracks. Ehm.........I think I'm overreacting here. But I'm like a kid in a candystore when it comes to this subject

Mac’s ideas are good ones. I little music theory goes along way in getting the most out of BiaB.
If you’re generating your own backing tracks and are looking for some better sounds than I would recommend Kontakt 3. There are also many different sound modules you can purchase for it. I have it and I think it’s great. I have heard that Reason and Sampletank are also very good but I have had no experience with them.
If you really want to try something new (well maybe something new as I don’t know your background) get a wind controller. The EWI-USB is a lot of fun and can add some realism to horn and string parts.
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

I already have Kontakt 3,and the upgrade to 3.5 which you can download free on
Native Instruments website.
I am also looking at getting VI.One which has 1000 instruments,and runs inside Kontakt.
I also have Reason 3,but I have not loaded it onto my new computer.
I always think of Reason as a Dance Orientated piece of kit,no doubt someone will prove
me wrong and I would probably need to upgrade it to version 4,and use it via rewire.

I also own Reason 3. My standard answer to anyone who says "Reason is dance oriented" is to say, "No, it's a virtual instrument." As an instrument, Reason is what you make of it. Its only limitation is your imagination.
Listen to two of the demos that come with Reason 3: "Fighting Evil" and "Hi-Fi Cops." Either will disabuse you of thoughts of the programs's limitations (although admittedly, the rest of the demos are heavily dance oriented). The first is a fully-produced neoclassical film piece; the second the theme for a notional 70s cop show. Both were done entirely with sounds included with the program.
From all reports (I have three close friends who have done so), the upgrade to Reason 4 is worth it, particularly if you are into synthesis for its own sake. BE SURE TO REGISTER THE PROGRAM IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, if for no other reason than to protect your license. But as a registered owner of 3, the upgrade to 4 will be relatively inexpensive. You may also want to take a look at their new DAW, Record, into which Reason 4 integrates directly; it doesn't even use Rewire.
Reason is why I push so hard for Rewire, but I haven't let the lack of it slow me down. My standard MO is to create beds in BIAB, save them as .MID files and open them in Reason. The biggest trick is finding GM drum kits (they exist, but often take some tweaking). The biggest challenge is patience. Like BIAB, Reason is incredibly deep conceptually. It has taken me several years of poking a stick at it and a LOT of listening to the work of others to get my head around it. It needn't take you that long. There are several users here, and the Phead forums are quite helpful (though not as friendly as this). The manuals are among the best I have seen for any product, period.
Since you have it, I would urge you to hang on to your dough and invest your time in this new 'instrument' instead. Visit my page at indabamusic.com and listen to some examples of what I have done by porting BIAB files into Reason. "Dance of the Techno Gods" is verbatim, just revoiced. "My Familiar" has been augmented with voice doubling and heavily edited to remove the choppiness of BIAB's chord changes, but is still quite close to the original BIAB file. It will sound somewhat empty as it is still awaiting my solo guitar part, but you can hear Reason's power all the better for that.

I can definitely confirm that Reason 4 is worth the upgrade... the ReGroove mixer is a valuable tool for adding a more life-like groove to programmed drums and synth lines, and the new Thor synthesizer is a monster! The new sequencer window took some getting used to, but that hasn't stopped me from cranking out some pretty huge tunes...
