Yes I'm a newbie but I do think I've read the book quite a bit.

I'm using BinaB to create backing tracks to play Tenor Sax over--excellent sound!!!! BinaB created a great intro

I'm having trouble with the repeat function

EG in "Moonglow" the score I have plays the 1st 8 bars and then repeats them before moving on to the b section--this is shown by a repeat symbol at the end of bar 8

I have actually loaded all the chords in full at present so the repeat section just appears as bars 9 to 16 as I cant seem to get BinaB to do this

The problem with this is that when it repeats for the second chorus for me to impro over I get the extra 8 bars and also when I go to the repeat 3 section I have to play the first 8 bars twice which I normally wouldnt do with live backing

Is there a way to use repeats to achieve what I want i.e just repeat the 1st 8 bars just the once in the 1st time I play the full tune

Tx

Phil

Hi Phil,

I don't use the Repeat Signs feature much, but I get what you want by doing other tricks.

In this instance, I would make the Intro and the first 16 bars with remaining number of bars for that different first chorus as the Intro, clicking Start of Chorus at the bar following and then laying out the song as the single 8 bar starting chorus, which can be repeated as many times as you like by designating the repeat number.

Hope you followed that, it works.

Hi Mac

What a dam clever idea

I hadnt thought of moving the chorus start--to be honest I'm not sure I realised you could--dont remember reading about that so I'll have to do a bit of research about how to do it--I assume its in the ops menu somewhere

Thanks again--that will make creating my backing tracks much easier

The EASY way:

Locate the three blocks to the right of the Title Window that have numbers in them. Default when hitting, "New" is 1 - 32- 3

The first block with the 1 in it is the bar where the song starts. This would be another number if you have an Intro.

The second is the number of bars per chorus

The third is the number of chorus repeats

To change any one of the first two parameters quickly, simply place the cursor at the desired bar in the Chord Grid by clicking once there, then click on the desired number block when its window opens.

Window will automatically fill with the right number.
