I was looking through the list of RealTracks when I had to switch windows. When I switched back, RB had locked up and would not respond to any input. When I tried to close it down, it told me it was waiting for input. I had to close it via a <right click> on its tab in the taskbar. It again told me it was waiting for input and asked for confirmation to close, stating that it would crash if it did. I closed it and received the following one line error message:

Access violation at address 0047ABB3 in module 'RealBand.exe'. Read of address 000001B0 at: 0047ABB3

Just thought you ought to know.

Sounds like there was a dialogue box somewhere - either off screen or behind the focus screen. I've seen this often enough and it can be impossible to switch to the offending dialogue. Seems to be a Windows thing more than a PGMusic product thing.

There was a dialogue box when I left RB. I was looking at the different RTs. When I switched back it was no longer visible and RB would not let me see anything other than the main window or respond to me clicking on anything.

Not always, but sometimes I've found that minimizing RealBand (or BIAB, when it happens there), and then bringing it back up will pop the offending dialog box back to the front. You may have to do it by right clicking on RealBand in the task bar at the bottom and selecting minimize. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it. I think it's a Windows thing, but I would think the application should be able to determine whether a dialog box the "requires" input should ever be able to slip behind the application itself.

Other times, I've had to just shut down the application, like Sam did.

At times BiaB has a problem with hidden windows - it happened more than once here that the program apparently didn't respond. Some Alt-Tab gymnastics and some supportive window minimize/restore game sure enough happened to show this or that lost dialog window - at times.

It would be good, if somebody at PG Music would go through those dialog boxes - probably best starting out with the Song- and StylePicker window.

I'm glad this topic was posted. It's happened to me and I was mystified that it was asking for a response when no dialogue box was present. I'm pleased to hear I'm not losing my sight or my mind.

***Try the Tab key or the Alt-Tab combination when this happens, cycling through all windows, you will likely find the little hidden window that is waiting for response.

I did minimise and restore a couple of times - no joy. Maybe the 'tab' trick will help next time

sometimes I'll accidentally double click on the style. This cause the same lock up. Instead of the style screen being out front it's behind the main screen.
