Yes, you would have to install them there, but be advised that if your hard drive is the 80gb that pgmusic shipped 2009 on, it will barely be enough room to hold the ~74-75gb size that is needed once all the updates are installed.
If you don't have another USB drive with more room on it, I recommend purchasing the upgrade because it now comes with a 160gb USB drive and everything already installed on it.
Of course, if you have no drive space issues, then you could indeed order the DVD disks and install them yourself to whatever drive you like.
