Hi Folks

Greetings. I am using Power Tracks Pro audio 12 on a Dell Latitude Laptop (1.8ghz, 1.5giggs of ram- Xp pro). I have my Yamaha Motif ES7 hooked up to my laptop via a Lexicon Omega USB/MIDI interface. I am working on sequencing 5 songs for a wedding. Here's is what I want to do. After I am done working on these 5 songs, I will save them each. On the day of the wedding performance, I would like to call up each song and have the correct motif tones (patches) come up on the motif. PT will be the main controller (so to speak). I am using different patches for each song and to save time, I do not want to be bothered with changing the various patches for each song on the Motif. I would like that as I select the songs on PT that the tones are correct on the motif and all i want to do is hit the "ENTER" button on my laptop and I am good to go.

I would really appreciate some assistance here. Thanks much y'all. Hit me back ASAP.....PLEASE.

I don't have Power Tracks pro audio 12, but I do have an Yamaha Motif ES-88 key, with the same amount of on-board sequencing power, and the other unique features for adding to its ease for filling out a single performance, or a gig set-up. Great Ax!!

I don't know if this program will set up a patch map like other software.

I'm sure one of our Power Tracks Gurus will give you some great imput...altho I realize time is of the essence in your case.

Don't know if this would work, but you could find out quick enough by trying it on one file.

Create a New .seq file that has the MIDI tracks and channel assignments on them. Save it with a name.

Then enter a Silent note in any bar. To do this, enter a single note and then use the PianoRoll set to Velocity and turn the Velocity all the way down so the note can't be heard.

Try reloading the track and then hitting Play to send the Patch Changes to the Motif.

PT would roll, get to that one note, get to the end of a very short sequence and then stop, but the Patch Change data has already been sent to the synth.

If that works, you can create a new file for every patch change situation needed at the live gig.

Just another aside about gigging with my Akai Rack mounted S-5000 Sampler; it also allows you to do a live music gig or a theatrical sound-effects/music gig with a highly organized (smf) midifile song playlist...just take the unit...don't even have to take one of your keyboards or computer/keyboards to the gig. So, samplers may still be the way to prepare for long gigs and long songlists with specialized patches....in this case, special samples, for midi-instrument changes.
Anyway, Akai has some much newer sampling equipment that utililize all the advantages of hardware sampling and midi control.
A link that might be of interest in this approach to hardware sampling/control equipment is Akaipro.com or the Akai Pro Recording

I'd bet that the Motif has a way to program it for one-button scene changes also...
