I currently have BIAB/RB 2008.5 Ultrapak or ultrapak plus, I can't remember what I ordered.
I'm a little short on cash for updates at this time, so I was considering buying just some of the RealPaks for my existing 2008.5 version instead of buying the upgrade 2009.5 version. is that possible? will the realpaks work with my 2008 version ok?

From what i ahve read yes, they will but they work better in 2009.5 due to a bit more advancement in the time stretch technology. I am looking in that direction for now as well.
HP Win 11 12 gig ram, Mac mini Sonoma with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2025, Realband, Reaper 7, Harrison Mixbus 9 32c , Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app.

Yes, the Realpaks will work with 2008.5. That's what I have and I purchased just the country 2 realpak and all is well.

I was told from one of the sales persons at Pg that they will not work with the 2008.5.

They will indeed work. It is just that they will work much better when running under 2009.5, due to the improvements in the audio department which virtually eliminate the small problems experienced mostly at start and end of songs, such as extraneous noises or early cutoffs.

Hmmm...that's part of the problem I have with the real tracks in 2008.5. I'll have to think hard about it if those start/stops were fixed in the audio engine.

I'm looking at doing the 2009.5 upgrade for my 2008.5 @ 69USD, then buying Country 2 Pak & 1. I also understand that the 2009.5 upgrade will also give RB. Seems reasonable.

Mac is right Beagle, please those you care about first as that will give you the most pleasure. Then as soon as that is done, order the best upgrade you can and make some great music ;-)
If you're still not sure, consider what Mr Zappa's dog said.... 'the crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe' . If you can work that one out, you deserve all the software you can download
