Thanks for the answer. File extensions indicating the file type, aka suffix, used to have maximally three glyphs. Now you may use longer extensions. There are suffixes like .resources and others of similar length. Four-digit extensions are quite common (docx, xlsx, html...)


But: You have directed me to the right path. I forgot that BIAB and RB are programs of the 8.3 era and RB probably needs .3 suffixes to trigger the right routines to resolve the file. It probably parses the extension and checks it for validity: If MID else if KAR else if "???" else if SEQ else error: "Not a RealBand .SEQ file"
