In the Open Special Menu, I'm requesting that Open Audio w/ Chords have a hot key assignment.

(SOLVED --- but)

adding a hot key would still be nice to have in the file menu section....

Hi Charlie
Can you explain a little further?
I know it's probably a great idea but I want to know how this fits.
Thanks
Trevor

Presently, there are several methods to open an audio file with the Audio Chord Wizard in BIAB. The method that is easiest and most convenient still takes multiple clicks to get your audio into the ACW and then into BIAB and the feature is hidden down in the file menu tree.

In BIAB IE: File/Open Special(no hotkey just a drop down arrow)/Open Audio with Chords (again no hotkey - you have to navigate down the menu and select the option with a mouse click)

There is a button icon in RealBand that makes it a one click process, whether you have imported your audio at that time or not.

Although it appears I'm in the minority, I use the ACW feature daily. More folks are giving it a try as they learn of the features and benefits the ACW offers. Simplifying the opening process may encourage more people to try it as well as making it easier to find while coincidentally making it more convenient for me.

Features that make a task easier to operate are always beneficial.

I had to split a lot of midi loops the other day in real band, they were all on multiple tracks and the top track was empty.
I made a hotkey to Remove selected track and Save all tracks to individual files.
There was a hell of a lot of them so this made it so easy.

You can download it here https://autohotkey.com/ and make any hotkeys you like.

Here is a ready made one to do the function you requested AutoHotKey.zip
just drag the yellow AutoHotKey folder out of the zip
run AutoHotKey
Open Audio with Chords is set to Ctrl+Shift+C change it to what you like.

There is a ReadMe in the zip

If you don't want the ready made AutoHotkey.zip just put this bold info in the .ahk script file:

; Only one instance running at a time
#SingleInstance force
;Open Audio with Chords
~^+C:: ;this is the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+C
Macro1:
WinActivate, ahk_class TBandWindow
Sleep, 500
Send, !F ;this sends the keys Alt+F for file menu
Sleep, 100
Send, {Down 2}
Sleep, 100
Send, {Right 1}
Sleep, 100
Send, {Down 15}
Sleep, 100
Send, {Enter 1}
Sleep, 100
;Send, {N 1} ;take the ";" out of the line start to answer No on prompt
Return

to access Menus:

File
Send, !F

Edit
Send, !E

Options
Send, !O

Play
Send, !P

Melody
Send, !L

Soloist
Send, !T

Audio
Send, !A

Harmony
Send, !M

Window
Send, !D

Hope this helps.

Thanks Pipeline. I'll give it a try.

I'll leave it as a wishlist item also. Just for the possibility PGMusic will make the feature available to all who use the program but they may not visit the forums. They may overlook this work around.

Pipeline,

Thanks for the reminder about AutoHotKeys. The script you wrote will work as a workaround but it would be nice for it to be easier to use the Audio Chord Wizard feature.

"Short term memory is getting shorter." followed closely by eyesight getting worse. ;=)

I actually had not noticed the ACW icon in 2016 version......

<grin> To my credit, I did know the icon was used in RB and I did know there are several different options to open the ACW.

As for knowing what I was talking about..... Well, that's a discussion for another day.

I've used the phrase "the best place to hide a stolen car is on main street" as a reminder to myself many times in the past to look for the obvious answer first.

Thanks to PGMusic for the forethought of the icon and to Deddy for bringing the icon to my attention.

Darn! blush

Last time I'll vote for a feature when I'm not at my computer to check beforehand. (Not) crazy
