I installed the power tracks 2016 on my windows 10 computer and had no trouble recording for about 4 months. all of a sudden I could not record. It is the dreaded "what you hear" is not available situation. I am not talking about it being disabeled - in the recording dialogue it says it is "not available". I have checked all the usual stuff - audio drivers, levels, etc. Is this a windows snafu? I have an audigy RX5 sound card. any ideas? looking around the web it seems to be a recurring problem. very frustrated.

panworks, This is a Windows issue. I have an audigy soundcard and if I need to use "What You Hear" to record what is coming through the soundcard, I have to set the the "What you hear" option as the default. (I have Windows 7.) That is, when I enter into the recording devices... 1. As you can see below, the option is 'currently unavailable'.  2. I next have to right-click on "What you hear" and select it as the default.  3. Device is then available for use. It is now labelled as the 'default device' and there is a green tick beside it to indicate it's set to go.  Hope this helps, Noel

Hello panworks,
Noel gives some great advice here, often times Windows is finicky about letting you use "what you hear" or "stereo mix" options as Windows themselves stopped supporting those features (apparently due to potential copyright issues).
You mentioned you tried all the usual stuff including audio drivers, did you try completely uninstalling the driver for that sound card and rebooting your machine? That will force Windows to download the newest driver for that device and reinstall it cleanly.

Hello panworks, Do an internet search for "record what you hear windows 10" and you will get many return links. I chose the one below from a Microsoft forum. ++ click here for Microsoft forum ++In some cases you may need to update some chip drivers before you can enable the "what You Hear" feature as Noel96 suggested.
