Hi guys
I have UltraPlusPak on a USB Hard drive that I use on my computer in the UK
I am now at our holiday home in Florida with a desktop running Vista Home Basic
I can get the program working fine its just that if I create a shortcut to BinaB from the USB icon to my desktop it works OK but doesnt copy over the BinaB icon--it just shows a plain page with some small icons
Any thoughts
Yes I know I'm pedantic--I just like things to be absolutely correct

Hi Phil,
Same advice as before - seek out the BBW icon in the bb folder on the Ultrapak drive - Right click on it - Send To - and choose - Desktop (create) shortcut

I've done that several times to no avail
I'v also done the create shortcut in the BinaB folder and then cut and paste the shortcut to the desktop but still no joy
The thing is that if I right click on the shortcut icon and go to the properties section of the shortcut it does show the right icon--but not actually on the desktop once I click OK
I hate Vista!!!!!

I don't think this is a Vista problem.
In order to get that icon on a system, you would likely have to first install Band in a Box .exe to that system.

Create an icon on your desktop

Hi Phil,
Just check that you are opening the bb folder on your external drive and then scroll down to the - bbw icon - file - this is the application/.exe file
Remember to delete any faulty icon relating to BIAB on your desktop

I have checked about everything I can on this
The shortcut actually works fine and if I right click it and go to propertied it does point to the PG Music\band in a box.exe file --, I've also uninstalled the prog on my C drive and reinstalled it from the USB drive----so I think in this case I'll admit a dam computer has beaten me and get on with playing songs and creating backing tracks
Life is too short!!!!!!!--I'll just enjoy being in the USA for a while--Clearwater is still hot and pretty humid and a great place to be

You could try making a pointer to x:\PGMusic\Programs\BB\BBW.exe, instead of Band-in-a-Box.exe (since Band-in-a-Box.exe is itself a pointer. That should work.

Actually when I try to make a shortcut to the destination you specified I get a message saying that file cannot be found
Not a problem --- The current shortcut does work and opens the program even though the icon is not the BinaB picture
Fantastic software by the way
I practice so much more now I have great backing tracks--I have to justify the Selmer MK VI Tenor to the wife somehow

Your explorer has a search function -> search for bbw.exe, and you should get your icon back. Ya' know, if you 'just like things to be absolutely correct', you need to give the program, or OS for that matter, correct inputs. The search feature of your explorer helps you in this quest. Have fun

Worked fine and problem solved
I had tried the right click on the desktop--new shortcut--entered what Peter had listed as the destination--thats always worked for me before--didnt this time
But as you said, the search function found it
