We'll be glad to help, but we may need more information as most of us haven't had this problem, so I'm not sure what would cause it.
How did you import the wave file? What buttons did you click to import it?
I assume you are indeed listening to the PT recorded backing track while you sing with it.
When you imported the wave file did you get a pop up asking to convert it to the same bit rate as the project? If so what did you select?
I'd suggest trying to start over and import it again, watching for any pop ups or flash messages.
They may give clues.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
