RealBand midi editing
drums set to channel 10.
Events list for channel 10, on one track, CC10=0 (And CC91=0 also to avoid bleeding) No other CC10 events for channel 10 in ANY track. No dupes, etc.
CC10 is set for all instruments in events list for each track/channel. (As are all other appropriate CC's)
All drums, and bass guitar are CC10=0 so they are only on the left. All other instruments are panned CC10=127 so they only play on the right. My backing tracks are stereo. Drums/bass guitar play through one speaker array (sub/full range/Xover) sitting center, rear stage. All other instruments come out of 2 other speaker arrays sitting stage left and stage right.
HOWEVER . . . I cannot get the drums to only play on the left. If you look at the L/R slider in the track bar, it clearly has moved far left. When you open the view meter, the drums are clearly playing full left and right. And you can clearly hear the drums through both left and right speakers.
I just took an existing track I made a bit ago. In the channel 10 events list, I put in a series of CC10 commands every 2 seconds apart as a test. So over about 30 seconds, every 2 seconds the CC10 changes as follows . . .
CC10=0 =64 =127 =32 =96 =64 (repeat a few times)
Now I played the track. Again, the L/R sliders move as expected. far left, center, far right, half way between far left and center, half way between center and far right, center, etc. - over and over, every 2 seconds.
However . . .
Drums are clearly playing in both speakers, L & R. And the view meter clearly shows the drums coming out of both sides. There is absolutely no change in the sound as the tracks play.
Then I did the same thing for the bass guitar track. The bass continued to pan left to center, to right etc. all while playing, changing every 2 seconds.
I've been using BIAB/PTAP since Rev 7. Always had the same issue. Same with RealBand.
What I have to do is render the drums to .wav. (Which clearly ends up a stereo track with the drums on L & R). Then split the audio track into 2 tracks, and delete the right track, and the stereo track. THEN . . . I need to add compression, etc. to get the drums to sound right.
And of course, I now no longer have a midi file, so I can't play them through a midi player, and end up making a .wav, and converting to MP3.
Too many steps!
Comments welcome. And as always . . . TIA!!!! Wayne

Wayne, What version and build of Realband are you using? If you have RB 2017, the latest build is #7 and can be found at the link below. http://www.pgmusic.com/support.realband.htmIf you haven't yet installed this, try doing so and see if the problem persists. Regards, Noel

Wayne,
It sounds like your drum sound source is in stereo and stereo can not be panned completely to one side. Your bass is a monophonic sound source so it can be panned completely to the left or right.
What you need to do is to either go to your drum sound source and pan everything dead center or save the track as a mono wav and hope that you don't get into any phase problems. Personally I would go to the drum sound source and pan everything to dead center.
Once you have either the drums panned to dead center or a mono wav you then can pan to the extremes.
I hope this helps and good luck.

You didn't tell us what you are using to generate the drum sounds. It's possible that those settings have to be made in the VSTi interface itself, rather than in RealBand (each VSTi may handle input differently).
And if still no luck, as Mario has intimated, just convert your drum track to WAV (he said mono, but stereo works too), and then you can pan as you wish.
If you go mono, then the entire drum sound will sound at that one position in the stereo listening field. If you convert to stereo and pan it, then it will be more like the center placement of the stereo sounds shift left or right.

John, the reason I said mono is because the OP want to pan the drums to the extreme left. The only thing I do about drum panning is to make sure that the drums are heard like the audience hears them. That is snare on the right, floor tom on the left, etc, just opposite as what the drummer hears. My drums are always in the center.

It's RB; Split the stereo track to two MONO tracks and pan however you want. Best of both worlds. Back to original topic .. what is the source of sound for the drums. Sounds like it may need to be panned on that synth, as mentioned above. Some synths don't respond to the common GM MIDI specs as expected.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
