My g/f has a Walther PPK locked in her safe... I have to behave myself. She has said though that if it were ever to be shot it would probably blow up in her face as it is one of the early models.

Vienna is a Capitalist city (even though it claims to be 'proportionally representative' - it is NOT) and the Austrians, as a whole, are still fiercely Socio-Nationalistic (which is even worse than racist but I won't go into that one). Try getting a job here or work of any nature and this is supposed to be the European Union? They would rather learn English from a native Austrian than an educated Englishman! Alternatively, they think it should be a privilege to teach English in their sacred Mother country and so expect it for FREE!!

As for O'Bama, I read today that Republicans are winning key seats again.

And as to the business side of music here, there isn't any...

Locked in a safe? Over here we keep our guns within reach. And we have 20,000 gun deaths a year to prove it!

“… more Americans die every two years from gunshots inside our own borders than were killed in 16 years of hostile action in Vietnam.”

Whatever...I like to keep my Walther right inside the phony hard-drive of my MotifES8, right between the illegal fake books and that straw that's sticking out of "Snow Cap Mountain"!!

Happy Trails,

Are you a closet Marxist? Capitalism is the only system that works, and for a good reason.

Man, this thread really went off track.

Hell no! Capitalism doesn't exactly "work" but it beats hell out of communism.

Capitalism works only because it runs on greed, envy, and waste, the most basic of human qualities.

Where's my bass guitar, I feel like playing "Money" right now!

Happy Trails,

I'm glad you have a good sense of humor!

Let's fire up an old episode of the Marx Brothers and continue down the path of greed and envy, (by way of Capitalism and a Representative Republic, since we don't have a democracy in the USA. And we shouldn't! Democracy is mob rule! ) It has it's ups and downs, but it's the best in the long run.

There is no other system of government that has achieved what the USA has in this short a period of time.

God Bless The USA!!!!!

Well you can ask God for whatever you like - (semi) free country.. Personally I see no conection between God and the USA and have little use for patriotism or religion. But I support your right to!

And - I'd never belong to club with such low standards that it'd allow me to join!

Happy Trails,

Whether you or I like it or want it, God has blessed the USA.

I'm not a paticularly religous person, but I do believe in giving credit where credit is due.

I am however a VERY patriotic person. All I have to do is look at the sacrifices my dad made for his country and the opportunities it gives both of us to speak our minds.

So when I say "God Bless the USA", it not as much a request as it is a desire for God to continue to do what He's already been doing.

So please keep speaking your mind, but please find someone to thank for that privilege, whether it's God, the forefathers or the veterans; (like my dad); who have given you the blessing of speaking freely without fear of someone breaking down your door because you have said what you think.

I'm pretty much a "party hardy" guy, but I do feel indebted to those who've given us the chance to speak freely.

And it is based on the British system!

I introduced the newly-arrived Mother of an American friend of mine here to the 'British Community Association' in Vienna (I was once Chairman) because she has just moved here, permanently. I was trying to help her make some friends. She and her daughter are from San Francisco, California - the daughter was married to a Viennese egotist for 7 years and is now being divorced; the Mother was married to a Brit for many years who passed away here in the Spring.

The current President of the BCA asked her where she was from and she answered, "California".

He then asked her where she was born. She answered, "Chicago"...

"Oh," he said, "where's the violin case?"

Good post Sam.

Our system is based on a modified version of the British system.

We owe them thanks for giving us the foundation for the USA system of government.

The US has accomplished a lot in a short time. Our ancestors wiped out 20,000,000 native people in less than 100 years. I bet Hitler was impressed.

Yes but he added German efficiency and made a far better return on investment in 1/20th of the time!
