Hello
I am an old client of Band in a Box ,I bought almost all versions using a PC .
I am thinking of switching to Mac and I am wondering if I do so if I have to pay the whole price (included all realtracks ,realband etc) for the Mac version or if there is a special reduced price for an old customer
Thanks

Check the 'store'. The Mac version has a crosspath upgrade for about $100 off the regular price.

Don't do it. I can't think of a single reason to switch from PC to Mac

+1 on the don't do it -- unless you have a software application that you need and that is only available on Mac

I have both. PCs are easier to use, less expensive, have more software available, and always have a Better Band-in-a-Box.

Well, I'll agree with Notes that, at least for now, the PC version of BIAB seems to be a better program. As for the other points he makes, I don't think they are necessarily correct. Macs are a fine machine, easy to use for a moderately computer literate person (same applies to a PC), have always had the GUI as a front end and are not so much more expensive as to be a major factor in purchasing decisions. If all else fails with getting a deal on the Mac version of BIAB, the Mac will run the Windows version pretty well until an upgrade comes along that makes it practical to go with a native version.
I'm a forever PC guy, never owned a Mac, but have used them during my working career as well as doing stuff for my wife on her Mac (until she switched to a PC). A very good computer.
Go with the computer you want and then make it work for you, especially if you are going to use other programs besides BIAB.
Good luck.

Hey Jeanmarc,

I couldn't disagree more with the above posts. I've used both PC and Mac for the last 20 years. The PC OS continues to be a non intuitive problem, with midi timing and driver issues. Even with Windows 7, I cannot get my DA Interface to work, nor am I able to get decent latency with my midi keyboard. My Mac experience is just the opposite........Tracks come out with stellar timing, no latency, no clitches or crashes.

Yes, it is true that the Mac version lacks a few features of the PC version. I'm sure in time Peter and Co. will get these up and running in time.

I have both formats running in front of me as I write this post>The bottom line is that Snow Leapord wipes the floor with Win 7 in almost every area. Plus the build quality of Macs is awesome.

Are Macs more expensive? Yes.

Are they worth it>YES.

I'm willing to bet that those dissing Macs have not spent much time if any, using them. I on the other hand spend more than a few hours using both everyday. The difference in my results is significant, both in terms of professional output and the TIME spent to complete my projects.

Thanks again

I don't use all the features of Band in a Box , mainly to practice my guitar and rehearse tunes I sometime play with my band ;so for me the important thing are the real tracks ,I really enjoy playing with those musicians ,and another question comes to my mind ,I have lots of BB files ,like real book etc.. are they compatible with a Mac and since I have all the real tracks for Windows can I use them on a Mac and so just buy the basic Band in a Box without optional?

Lots of questions
