I have 1 week of experience with BIAB. So far so good. One question though. Is there a way to have different parts of the "band" kick in at different times? For example if I am doing a simple 12 bar blues and I want to play a few bars of intro (on guitar) with just a drummer and then have the rest of the band kick in on the 5th bar. Is that possible? Any help is greatly appreciated.

.
Press the F5 key. You will see a window with lots of things that can be triggered at the highlighted measure. You can have any instrument sit in or sit out by choosing the instrument and then "back to normal" or "mute." Go to another measure, press F5 again, and you can undo whatever you did earlier. Try these a couple times and I am sure you will see what's going on.
As long as you are exploring, try everything.

If you RightClick on the bar where you want instruments to Rest, then pick "Chord Settings" and take a look a the lower RH side of the little window that opens, you can set the bar to "Rest all Instruments but..."
There are keyboard shortcuts to do this, but using the RightClick at first and having that menu of possibilities is likely the fastest way to learn.
Repeat for each bar where you want instruments to Rest or "Sit Out".

The pther approach is to do your initial song with all the tracks that you want, playing on all the tracks, all the time.
Then either use RealBand, or your chosen DAW to edit each track, (deleting, moving and triggering individual tracks as desired).
You can open Band in a Box tracks in RealBand and edit the tracks in there, or if using a different DAW (I use Reaper and it works beautifully with BB), you can use the 'plug in mode' in BB 2010, to drag and drop tracks (drag from the track 'name' areas in BB, eg 'Piano') into your DAW.
Works a treat!

I do similar to what David does but I use Ableton Live. It works even better for building a song after the fact, that is once you have all the tracks down and you are ready for final assembly.

Here's how I do it:
First, export your BiaB song to a MIDI file, then import that MIDI file into your DAW of choice.
I haven't done any RealDrums/RealTracks migration to my DAW, but I believe that you would export (render) these as individual WAV (or other common audio format) files, and then, like the MIDI tracks, import these audio tracks into your DAW.

With 2010 we also have the DAW window Drag and Drop feature to do this.

lol There you go... a much easier way than mine.
I guess I forgot about the drag-and-drop support because my BiaB is running on a different machine than my main DAW, and export is the only way I can transfer from one to the other.
