I don't think that there's any secrets. What the program does in the background is all fine. The user never needs to know. What it presents to the user doesn't have to be the same as how it works internally.
Lots of programs present information differently to the user from the way they process data behind the scenes. Just take a look at almost all source code.
A typical example is the BiaB Notation display: It has functions to easily make an F# appear as a Gb in a song written in the key of G. The note is the same, only the appearance (presentation) is different. In this case, not between two different programs. This is all within the same program.
And that is simply inconsistent with the presentation available in the Chord display.
