Hi,
I just spent about an hour sampling styles looking for a back up for Grant Green's "Cantaloupe Woman".
Couldn't find anything close.
ANY HELP?

Yeah, I'm also looking for that sidewinder, Cantaloupe Island goove thing. I've heard people describe it as a fast bossa.

Are you using BIAB?
Re: sidewinder groove,
I wonder if I can get the flavor on my Garage Band loops?
I am elementary player and recognize there's just a few elements required there:
the simple bass line (latinish)
the percussion (latin)
and the 2 chord per measure rythm (blue groove).

In the spirit of answering my own questions... I found this:
L_BOSROK.STY BossaRock
Memo: Bossa/Rock (ElPno,b,d,AcGuit)
Examples: Desafinado, The Sidewinder
MONGSANT.STY MongSant - Ev.8 jazz - trio & qu
Memo: 4/4 ev.8 funky jazz feel w/ 5 insts. At 'a': - ac. piano, ac. bass, drums. At 'b': - add strat & brass background. T = 122
Examples: Sidewinder, Watermelon Man
=HORA_B.STY Loose Bossa w/ AcBass (140 RT)
Memo: Jazz Bossa w/ Bossa Bass RealTracks. In 60s and 70s this style was sometimes referred to as a Bossa Rock or Jazz Bossa. MIDI piano plays a repeated comp motif. Could be considered Pop-Jazz.
Examples: Sidewinder

Trying to get that syncopated chord chop; seems like on the 2 and 4 beat.
???
Or just lay out the chords in tempo and play chords and melody over it?
I play jazz uke.

BTW, I moved over to Garageband; and presto; easy money--- funkystrut drums, organ and guitar in easily manipulated notes (the green), and latin bass; voila.
I usually prefer BIAB, but this does it where biab didn't have the goods?
Benny; if you get the sound with biab; let me know so i can check it out.
