G'day Mac

I still want to know who declared pgmusic's forum to be a democracy where an unreliable internet forum polling tool tells the owner of it what to do and how to do it...

Did I miss the revolution?

Again?

Or was it a coup d'etat?

Umm, no coup, we're just expressing opinions - afterall, what else is a forum for..?

See, my feelings have been hurt already on this thread -- sniff, sniff.

Kevin

P.S. ... and there have been a few nasty comments on this thread. I'm ignoring everybody. The forum might not be that helpful if I can't read anyone else's comments, but I have that right.

Mac's right. It isn't a democracy, it's PG's call.

I've never seen a forum removed by PG but I guess it has been done. I must have missed them. So maybe the "problem" isn't really a problem.

So as the really bad old country song says, "What's wrong with way that we're doing it now"?

Scott,

As I understand it, there’s another button that you can click that says “ignore user”. I’ve never used it but I have read on the forum that something like this exists.

You might try that. Then you wouldn’t feel the need to twist things people say into something other than what they actually said.

Problem solved. I simply ignore posts that I don’t like or that I’m not interested in. It seems that most other users do the same.

Bob

Where did I twist anything? Please point that out.

You haven't, Scott

I have used this tool once on a certain individual and it worked. Then I thought better of it and released him. It does work though I actually believe it to be unnnecesary

Scott,

Rather than send this blog WAY off base because of the nature of what I mentioned, if you'd like to talk about it, please send me a PM.

I'll be glad to discuss it with you in a friendly manner. That's probably how we should handle any potentially contentious issues.

I agree 100% Sam. Even if people disagree on topics, they should be able to discuss them and let the disagreements go after the discussion is done.

That's a measure of being true friends with someone. I've been fortunate enough to have several of those kinds of friends in my life.
We would get in really big arguments, then agree to disagree, and then go have a beer as if it never happened.

How do you get back to your "Home" on the PG forums without signing out and signing back in again? I realize that's where you are when you you sign in, but once you click on a forum, I don't know how to get back in.

I was checking for PM's.

Thanks,
Bob

The only problem with using the ignore button is that sometimes the person you are ignoring will make a valid point or really have something useful to add on a music topic. And because you ignore that otherwise "dirty rotten scoundrel" because of a prior offensive post you may miss out on a quick fix or great music idea. Just saying.

But my 2 cents (knowing full well that PG Music owns the forum therefore making my 2 cents worth nada) says keep it music related and by that I mean when someone is ill and someone wants to send a prayer he/she is sending it to, or for a fellow musician, and that should be close enough to qualify as a music post.

Danny,

I've never used the ignore button before, and I don't plan on using it for the reasons you mentioned.

If a thread is inappropiate, then let PG kill it. But I do find it slightly offensive when a member tries to be the "Forum Police".
As stated earlier in this thread, this forum belongs to PG Music.

So if a member comes along and tries to "put someone straight" on the rules, I think they are totally out of line.

It's different if a spammer comes along and tries to put something up. It's another thing entirely if a standing member brings up something that is outside of the "rules".

I look at them the same way I would look at someone in elementary school who was a "tattletale".
Get a life. If somebody is doing something wrong, then it's up to the teacher to catch them. Not a "snitch" who is trying to set them straight.

I really don't think that PG Music would have an issue with forum members enquiring as to the health of another member, or in wishing other members Merry Christmas, Happy New Year or the occasional joke or comment on a current news item. Although these things are not music related, we are all cyber friends, and I don't think that PG Music or the forum moderators would consider that too serious a breach of the forum rules.
Only my view anyhow.
