Hi all, I came up with a chord progression using EZKeys. I imported the midi file and BIAB correctly intrepreted every chord except that is used a Gsus and a Bbsus when according to EZKeys these respectively are Gadd11 and Bbadd11. The Chord Builder doesn't seem to let me designate add11, and trying to type it in directly just results in a sus chord. The sus chords sound ok, much of the time, but they aren't really what I want. I'm not exactly Mr Musician here ;-) Is there a viable subsitution from the chorsd types whcih BIAB permits? If it would help I could post a screenshot

I can't remember ever using an add11 chord. In my experience, the 'add 11' variation of a sus4 (or simply sus) chord usually comes from the note occurring in the melody rather than as a chord tone in the harmony. Given your chord progression above, I suspect that its the 4th of the chord (the 11th is a 4th that's one octave higher) resolving to the 3rd that is what you're after. This means the sus chord is your best option. Below are the chords' notes for reference Bbadd11 = Bb D F Eb (Eb is above F) Bbsus = Bb Eb F (Eb is below F) Gadd11 = G B D C (C is above D) Gsus = G C D (C is below D) Given that your 'add11' chord resolves to a normal major, this is saying that the 4th (aka 11th) is resolving to D (for Bb chord) and B (for G chord). This is standard behaviour for a sus chord. Also, just in case someone reads this post who is not aware of the following... ...the chords that BIAB supports are found in either "Chord Builder" (right-click on the chord sheet and select Chord Builder) or look in Help's index and scroll to "Chord - list". Power user Pipeline has also created a great add-on for BIAB that makes loading chords easier. His tool also gives all available chords. Noel, what you said is true however in the guitar world add 11 is quite common. Cadd11 and Gadd11 are two common ones that are used a lot. Folk players use these a lot. They may resolve to a triad or they may resolve to the IV chord.

Thanks for the information, Mario. That wasn't something that I was aware of. I guess it shows that I'm a keyboard player!

Thanks for the information, Mario. That wasn't something that I was aware of. I guess it shows that I'm a keyboard player! Don't feel bad. JonD and I have these conversations all of the time. You keyboardists are lucky in that you can play up to 10 notes at a time while us lowly guitarist can only play a maximum of 6. Many of my 4 note guitar chords can be interpreted many ways by keyboardists.

Thanks guys.
I must admit I find Pipeline's app a bit hard to get my head around, the post has mainly tech talk i.e. it reads kind of like a developer log with no overview; it also starts off saying I need to install something called AutoHotkey, yet I don't see any screenshot or short video which sort of shows me what it'as all about, and why I should find this and set this up. Has anyone used it? Does AutoHotkey cause problems?

I think the point of mentioning Pipeline's app was to say that it shows all available chord types in BIAB, but you don't need it for that since you can see them in the BIAB Chord Builder, as Noel mentioned.
I believe you can start the Pipeline app without Auto Hotkeys.

That way I can get any chord or chord voicing that I want. You are limited to what RTs give you unless you have a polyphonic version of Melodyne. I do have it but I still prefer to use MIDI. I have Melodyne Editor so I can change or delete any note in an RT track. You can do the same with a monophonic track and a less expensive Melodyne. Note that I use my DAW to do this. You may or may not be able to do this in BiaB. Others will have to chip in on this.

you don't need it for that since you can see them in the BIAB Chord Builder The problem though is that these chords aren't found in the chord builder

It doesn't matter whatever a third party app says. The chord type add11 is not supported by BIAB and you have to use a workaround.
