Are you able to play midi parts?
I'd suggest adding your own bass line via midi since that is a huge part of the groove for that song.
I did that very thing to recreate the cover tracks for a customer some time back. Nothing in BB worked but I was able to use midi to make it very close to the groove he wanted. He actually wanted me to emulate a cover of the original cover as it had a "cooler groove" to him. I pulled it off well enough that he liked it and I got paid for the work.
FYI: That song was Southern Nights, originally by Glen Campbell.
