Hey folks, As I was enjoying putting together my first arrangement when I discovered in the Real Band style I had selected that a chord did not play out. That was the Bm(Maj7) chord. I tried several ways to write it. Although it displays in the chord chart, the guitar parts blow right by it as it were not there. It's a part of the standard chromatic walkdown that if it is missed it loses the feel for that area of the song. Rather it sounds like Bm - Bm7 - E9. Not the same. Anyway, is this a glitch? Does it only happen within certain styles? Should I just avoid this type of progression in my writing?
Thanks, RickeG

If it's a Realtracks part, it must be limited to whatever the players supplied when they made that loop. They might never have recorded something as arcane as a real m-Maj7 chord. If so, you can never hope to wring one out of that style.
In a MIDI style, the m-Maj7 chord will play correctly, as a usual thing. I can't remember one spontaneously spelling itself wrong, although BB can certainly select a voicing one does not approve of.
When results are not as hoped, try again some other way. In this case, a different style may help you. Dinking around like that is where the fun is, anyway. As you get more experience, you see more ways around these things.

If you want a Bmaj7 there, it should be written exactly that way. It looks from your post as though you are writing it as "Bm", and that will give you a B-minor chord.
Also, if you are using "Realtracks" as opposed to "midi tracks", then some styles might not contain realtracks with all possible chord changes. This is of course because realtracks are actual recorded clips of someone playing the instrument. If this is the case you might want to experiment with a different style to see if it will supply you the chord change where you want it to be.

Firstoff, there is indeed a chord named, Bm(maj7).
Band in a Box recognizes it. Therefore RB should also. Since the chord could be entered and was not rejected at time of entry, there you go.
It may just be that the chosen RealTrack just doesn't have anything that will fit there.
The chords spells in close harmony, as B, D, F#, A#.
Maybe you could fool it by trying to enter D+/B

RickeG,
What beat are you putting the BmMaj7chord on? The effectiveness of chords on beats 2 and 4 is often style dependent. To me, this sometimes seems more noticeable with Realtracks. It might be worthwhile trying a couple of different styles.

Yes, BIAB even has the chord in its Chord builder feature. Although I am not familiar with the processes it takes to make a Real Track, I had an assumption that perhaps the style I chose just did not approach that chord perhaps. That is why I wanted to inquire with the more experienced folks such as yourselves in order to get confirmation.
As for where it falls in the measure, it is on the first beat. It was intended to move chromatically over the span of the four measures. The upside is the attack on the chord, and I have to chuckle, because if you carefully listen to the guitarist you can almost hear him fumble his fingers for a brief split second as if he got to the chord and drew a blank on how to play it thus leaving a carryover from the previous measure. So, the attack was not as pronounced as it sounded at the entrance to the previous measure thus allowing the melody to capitalize on the movement without having a clash. The movement is a little more subtler than I originally intended. But, after listening to it several times, I began to appreciate the new dynamic more than my original idea.
Also, I was so glad to find "Toots" harmonica! I love Toots! He is the harmonica player that really has that sweet sound that makes everything pretty. I used that for a portion of the melody. Again, this stuff is just down right fun!!!
