This is a major need for all who write their own songs. Those of us who are not multi-instrumentalists would love to have the necessary soloists for the beginning, bridge, and endings of our songs. The 3 shot fiddle intro as in the Ray Price songs or the lead guitar intros, or steel guitar intros like Buddy Emmons and lets not forget the solo's needed for the bridge and endings. I HAVE A WONDERFUL IDEA!!! HOW ABOUT WE JUST FORGET ABOUT JAZZ ALL TOGETHER AND CONCENTRATE ON THE USERS WHO SUPPORT BAND IN A BOX THROUGH THEIR PURCHASES. WE NEED THE TOOLS TO MAKE OUR MUSIC WORK. HOW ABOUT ALL YOU JAZZ MUSICIANS, MOST OF YOU ARE AWSOME MUSICIANS, YOU COULD WORK OUT SOMETHING WITH BIB TO PROVIDE SOME OF THIS AND MAKE MONEY TOO!

Don't yell,

And -- What makes you think that jazz players don't buy the product more than any other players do?

As rest of the rant, well, I think that PGMusic does a fantastic job of providing a little something for everybody's tastes with each release, just stick around and you'll likely at see and hear at least *some* of what you're talking about actually happen.

Sorry, I've read this first post twice and I still don't understand what's being asked.

I'm sure its just a matter of time and development. After all, it only makes sense.

Yes if we're talking about the subject line, "Intros, Endings, Fills for country and Bluegrass", I agree they will come in time. It's the shouting part of the post, about jazz musicians, I don't understand.

Matt,

I guess it's the CAPS (oops, I just shouted it out), that indicate in forums and chat rooms that the person is shouting either in anger or frustration. Apparently the poster thinks that PG caters too much to Jazz Muscians, and seems to be frustrated because Jazz musicians are all multi instrumentalists anyway, so why should they want or need Real Tracks as much as us poor ol' country players........

........as far as I can tell anyway

I'm in trouble either way, because I kinda dabble in both genre's.

For those who think I am yelling, I do apologize for the assumption that I am although I am not. I am merely trying to voice the frustration that I and others like me feel about the Band In A Box program. So, lets be constructive; First, I am a songwriter (country, bluegrass,) I don't play fiddle but to make some songs work they need it in the intro and fills and endings, without it you have jazz or blues without BB King, you get my drift? You have an excellant program but you have to start at bar 1 with no way to put in a riff or lead-in to the first bar of the song. Almost all country music starts with some type of lead-in to the first bar. If all I wanted BIB for is a jam box I wouldn't care, I am trying to create a finished product without the necessary tools to do the job, if I had a dozen musician friends who could come over to create all the necessary parts I wouldn't need Band In A Box, I have every styles and soloist set for BIB and Real Band in the country and bluegrass genre but there are no intro's, fills' or endings only rythm and background. I have more Jazz related songs and styles in this BIB program that I neither want or need and can't get rid of, I use this for my music and if I could I would dump all the jazz, rock, rap, and crap out and free up the program for what I need it for. So, as I said, some of you more accomplished musicians could probably make some good money creating some intros fills and endings. WE NEED THEM, I NEED THEM. So much for the rant.....legiontrans

Um, if they bother you that much, you can't simply delete them?

Sure you could.

What I do when I need an intro and don't have one is to use the melodist and/or soloist to create one. I just select the first 4 or 6 or 8 or whatever bars, and either enter my own chord progression or let the melodist create one for me (after setting the key, obviously). Once created, I can add harmonies to it, whatever. Sometimes I'll create one on the melodist track, move it to the soloist track, then create another one on the melodist track. I usually have to do that several times to find something that works together, but you can usually find something that works. I may have to tweak some of the notes, but I definitely get a unique intro each time. I then set the chorus to begin the bar after the intro.

Or I use the create intro command and then use melodist to give me something. Or I might use a part of the song (the refrain) and have the soloist follow

Melodist set 2 includes country; 3 is bluegrass; 5 is bluegrass.
Soloist set 5 is bluegrass, set 9 has country piano.

Alternately, I will sometimes capture an intro out of a MIDI file I downloaded from the web.

Or, I'll just roll my own.

But lots of options. Same concept applies to endings, bridges, etc.

John makes a good point here. It is possible to achieve what you are looking for, especially with the power of RealTracks.

Since you stated that you are producing a "finished product" I can also assume that you are not confined to live constraints in using BIAB. Consequently, you can use RealBand to capture exactly what you want the way you want it.

Ultimately, no product automated will ever capture 100% of your imagination and your originality. I look at BIAB to be a wonderful way of doing 90% of my gruntwork in a matter of minutes, from which I produce the finished product through additional hours of studio recording. That's where that outstanding opening riff arrives.
