When I open any of my previous BIAB song projects or an all RealTracks BIAB Style in 2010 the RealTracks only play for the first two bars and then drop out. If I reload them individually they will play correctly but after saving song and then reopening the same thing happens. I have tried switching between ASIO and MME but that doesn't help either
Anyone else have this problem

This is happening to me too. When I Upgraded and installed the real-tracks updates, including holds, and shots, I would start a song with the drums, then listen, now I would audition a bass, real track would generate and if I hit the recycle button so as not to force a re-generation of the drums and bass , the "new" instrument and drums would generate and play fine, bass 2 bars and stop. In 2009 this wasn't a problem, it's disjointing especially when you are manually typing rests etc.

Zan,

I can confirm the exact same behavior as you describe, although not with all my older files, but definitely with some, and reproducible.

Using Windows 7 64-bit

This came up in BETA but was fixed. I can no longer reproduce it here. Even though you're not needing a DXi/VSTi try assigning one in the midi/audio driver setup and check the box that says use DXi/VST/i. This was the initial fix. Then another fix came out so that wasn't needed however please give it a try.

Unchecked MIDI still only plays certain Real Tracks. I sort of do this like I said, drums, bass, rhyth-guitar, and when I get to the 3rd instrument it does not generate or play a previous generation I have to tell BB to re-generate the track.

Now if the "player" was frozen , it should at least play the last generated bass-line or piano-riffs. I have to manually re-generate the Real-Track to hear everything together.

anyway to get this marked up as a bug?? Program is awkward to use now because if you change something, you have to re-generate to hear the composition.

Hi johnmusic,

*If you recently did the electronic delivery download or DVD install, and not the USB drive, you *may* need to do a Drive Clean and then defrag your hard drive in order to put all those RealTracks in a more contiguous data on the disk. Don't believe Windows' when it reports that you may not have to defrag at this time -- they were not even thinking about streaming audio files when they wrote that piece of code. Freespace on the hard drive can also be an issue, we should keep about 10-15% of the drive empty at all times, because the Temp files space is necessary.

If, after a defrag, the problem persists, you can report it directly to support@pgmusic.com via email. Be sure to do this in "bullet" fashion as a step-by-step description to make it easier for support to sort out.

I've also seen that a RT, saved in the Soloist part, has disappeared when the song is opened again. The part shows the * (Frozen) symbol but the RT is not generated. A Midi part is played instead.

Mac,

I fired an e-mail off to support. This is a huge divergence from 2009 in terms of what the real-tracks do. In 2009, if you tested or auditioned parts, what I mean is you went:
Drums-----Bass,
Then Rhythmn Guitar, all the previous parts played too, re-generated, but they played.'
Now just the drums play, Bass for 2 bars then you have to tell BB to re-Generate each part.
De-Fraggin now for giggles, this machine is an I7 , 1.5TB drives, she's a monster with System Mechanic minding the internal P's and Q's. I hope they can fix this....

This seems to work but I have been using the GM Patch from my Yamaha DBX505 as default, so now I have to do a song edit to change each instrument back because it defaults to the Roland VSTi and to my ears at least, the Yamaha samples sound way better, but it's a work around I can live with until it gets straightened out
Mac, I'll try defragging later too

- That sounds like the feature to speed up RealTracks generation isn't working for you. The feature works with DirectX, so is somewhat related to things like DXi synths, DXi AudioPlugins, and DirectX. So perhaps none of these are in use on your system, and need to be in use for the feature to work.

For example, maybe the Windows 7/64 user needs some kind of DXi synth to at least be installed, if not selected. Or the DIrectX Audio plugins checkbox to be checked (Prefs-Audio - Use Direct X Plugins) . Or maybe installing the DirectX Audio Plugins that we include.

- First, for diagnostic purposes, try disabling the Prefs-RealTracks- Speed up generation of RealTracks, and see if the problem goes away (of course your RealTracks generation speeds won't be fast then). Then at least we know that is the same issue, and then enable the Speed up again, and try the fixes below:

- To get the fast generation working, there may need to be a DXi at least installed on your machine, so you could install either the included Roland VSC DXi (32 bit OS only) , or the Forte DXi demo (32 or 64 bit OS - demo link below) . The easiest way of finding out if you have any DXi installed, is options-MIDI Drivers-Use DXi, and then see if any Dxi devices (not VST) are listed in the first combo list in the dialog.
(64 bit O/S like Windows 7/64 won't be able to use the Roland VSC DXi - it wont install -, so you could try the Forte DXi to test this out http://www.pgmusic.com/fortedxi.htm
free 30 day demo here http://64.40.99.154/pgfiles/SetupForteDXi16.exe )

If you do have one Dxi (not a VST, a DXi) installed, try choosing Options-MIDI Drivers- Use DXi and see if the fast generation returns. Also coudl try Prefs-Audio-Use Audio Plugins. It is possible that (the Windows 7/64 testers didn't have any problem like this, but perhaps they all had at least one DXi installed, like Forte or VSC). If the above doesn't work, you can disable the feature as above until it gets sorted out.
Note that if one of the fixes works (enabling using DXi in the Options-MIDI Drivers or (2) enabling use Direct X AudioPlugins), then it will likely work for the whole session (ie you can turn use DXi off).

This did not work for me. I am on Windows XP. And if I go to change any part of the song i.e. F-5 to mute or unmute sections I have to right click and tell BB to re-generate the real-tracks so the changes stick.

Lastly there is a marked difference between certain real-tracks and others recorded by different artists. Terry Clarke Drums for instance sound much different than Craig Scott. Were the Real-Tracks all recorded at the same studio?? With the same gear?? I can hear the difference.

Not sure what you mean by "that did not work". There were a bunch of suggestions, for example, did this work " First, for diagnostic purposes, try disabling the Prefs-RealTracks- Speed up generation of RealTracks, and see if the problem goes away "

>>> And if I go to change any part of the song i.e. F-5 to mute or unmute sections I have to right click and tell BB to re-generate the real-tracks so the changes stick.

That's normal.

>>> Lastly there is a marked difference between certain real-tracks and others recorded by different artists. Terry Clarke Drums for instance sound much different than Craig Scott. Were the Real-Tracks all recorded at the same studio?? With the same gear?? I can hear the difference.

No, each drummer uses his own gear. For example, the Rock Drummers don't play on the Jazz guy's kits

There is a 290 Patch that may fix this problem. If it doesn't, try the points above, and definitely try disabling the Prefs-RealTracks- Speed up generation of RealTracks, and see if the problem goes away.
