I'm relatively new to BIAB. One thing I can't figure out: when I enter a song using the Chord Sheet Window, the screen starts with four bars to the line. Sometimes (like just now, I copied bars 1-2, to bars 3-4, using "Edit/ Copy from .... to... "), after the copy, it shows bars 1-2 on line 1, then shows bars 3-4 on the second line. Anyone know how to control when the program decides to push bars down to the next line?... thanks....Bill

Try deactivating 'New line for every section (part marker)' in Pref/Display.

When you copy bars, if you have a part marker (normally a blue or green square around the bar number) or other settings to the bars, that gets copied as well. Turning off the new line for every section, as MartinB said, will stop that from happening. However, if you like to have a new part on a new line later, that might not work for you. When you copy a section with a part marker and paste it, you can simply click on the bar number that moved to the new line (the blue or green square) and it will toggle through the part markers (if it is blue, it will turn green, if it is green it will turn off the part marker [if using a style that only has A and B parts]) and when it turns it off it will put the pasted section back at the end of the previous bar. That way you can leave the automatic new line option on for when you want it to do that. It isn't the setting for a new line for every section that is causing the problem you described but the part marker that gets copied. Hope you can make sense of this because I just reread it and confused myself. Good luck.

Yes, you would have had to copy the Part Marker along with the bars for BB to start a new line like that. You can deactivate the Start New Line feature in Prefs -> Display down at the bottom of the Display window if you like. Sometimes I do that when laying out a song and will return it to ON again afterwards in order to simplify that process, or you may just elect to leave that turned OFF all the time, too. Bear in mind, however, that every time you copy a Part Marker, even one of the same color for the Substyle you are currently "in" -- it will force a Drunm Fill in the previous bar. You may not want that, so you can just click on the part marker several times to turn it back to no part marker at all. Quote:
K Quick Copy Method
By simply typing "K" at a bar (followed by Enter key), you can instantly copy the last 8 bars to the current position. By adding additional keys in the K command, you can customize this shortcut (e.g. typing K12,3 would copy from bar 3 for 12 bars to current position). The current position is advanced to the bar beyond the copy. This speeds up song entry!
For example, if you're entering a song that has a repeating section of chords for 8 bars, type in the first 8 bars of chords and then move to bar 9, and then type: k <ENTER>.
The last 8 bars will be copied to bar 9-16, and the cursor will be moved to bar 17, so you're ready to continue with the tune. If you get to bar 25, and would like the chords from 1-8 to be copied to 25-32, type k,1 and this will copy 8 bars from bar 1 to bar 25.
The chords always get copied. The Melody, Soloist, and Lyrics also get copied if these items are set in the Copy Chords and / or melody dialog (Edit | Copy From.. To..).

Thanks to all of you for these suggestions. BarryKJ, yes, that made sense. And Mac, I'll try that k,Enter technique... Bill
