Can anyone tell me what would the best way to hook up my Behringer 1204FX Mixer to a Bose L1 Compact? (The Bose L1 Compact only has a Mono input 1/4" Jack... Should I use the RCA outs on the Mixer to the RCA input on the Bose? or use a Y adapter to combine the L and R speaker outputs into a mono jack?
Thanks in advance.

Your only gonna get a mono sound out if your are putting a mono sound in. Doesn't matter if you use one or two jacks.

That's OK, the question is Do I use just one cable (say L out) and pan all the lines to the left? Thanks.

The RCA's are good.
Electrically, they are Consumer Line Level at both ends, mixer and Bose.
They will also sum to mono a bit better than a Y jack at the 1/4" input because the summing is done through resistors. Y pad.
Incidentally, I've been using two Compacts. I plug the White RCA into one and the Red RCA into the other and get true stereo onstage.

Thanks MAC, I've read now a few people using TWO Compacts and they're very happy (I found a whole bunch of discussions going on at the FORUM on Bose.com)... If you're using 2 and a mixer, the manual has some nice diagrams showing how to connect too.

I am wondering the same thing... I have a Bose Compact L1 with a Behringer 802. How do I hook it up to get stereo sound to the L1? Possibly using the 1/4" input.

Best you can do with one L1 is combine any real stereo output using a Y connector that is wired appropriately and sum them to mono into the single mono input.
This may be necessary if, say, you are playing back stereo recorded content.
If you are using a mic mixer, you could simply leave all pan controls straight up at 12 oclock and use only one output into the one input.

I was looking on guitar centers website after reading your post. So I can take a Y adapter with 2 male to one female on the mixer and go into the L1 with a 1/4" input? This will give me stereo play.

The only thing you can get out of the one L1 would be MONO playback of a stereo source.
The Y adaptor SUMS the L and R channel to MONO.
This is desirable if, say, you have a stereo mp3 player or cd player that you want to hook up and amplify. You would want the people to hear both channels, but they wouldn't be able to hear true stereo coming from two different places. The sound would be both channels summed and coming out of one single source, thus it would actually be monophonic.

Don't forget you have a 1/8" input on the L1 also.
I use the RCA output on my mixer to the RCA input on the L1. I have also used RCA output to the 1/8" input. Either one works fine for me.

Does anyone know the sound difference between the L1 and the L1 compact?
