Just a quick question. I have just read that RB can use the TC Helicon program from PTAP if it is installed. Will this work with the older V9, or do you need the newest PTPA to gain access to this?

Thanks!

As far as I am aware, it needs to be PTPA 12 Build 12 to get the compatibility. I bought PTPA just so I could use TC Helicon in RB (it appears under one of the menus in RB and not as the TC icon).

Thanks for the info Noel96! Thats is what I figured, but when a neighbor mentioned that he had a old copy of V9 sitting in his desk I figured I would check.

Thanks Again, and we hope you & yours have a great Holiday Season!

Noel is right. But that doesn't stop you from using the TC in v9

The upgrade price for Version 12 is only $29. Just sayin'...

Using someone elses software would be not so cool. As software has specific licensing agreements. being that it is a very old version, i doubt there would be any reprisals, but still that software is fairly inexpensive.

I don't know what PGMusic's policy regarding transfer of license (wasn't clear whether the copy was on his friend's desktop or just on his desk, which might mean not being used), but that's a possible option. Or $49 for a new copy. Still reasonable, if the TC-Helicon plugin meets your needs. It's not perfect, but try to find another harmonizer that actually works for less than $50. Or save your money for one of the hardware based units.

First off, there is no warez type of stuff going on here folks! He just could not come to grips with it, and moved on to Reaper. When I mentioned that I just got the new version of BiaB with all the toys he mentioned he had it sitting in his desk. I could get it for cheap off of him, but I would only use it for the TC Helicon program, so it is not worth it to me.

I personally have not liked PTPA since my first serious use of it at version 3.5....NOT because it was bad, it was fantastic for MIDI! But I do more audio than midi, thus it didn't fit ME well.

I am really intrigued by RB tho, because I can see this getting used to work up arrangements of RT to a 80% level, and then going to my main DAW to finish the tracks off using my favorite VST's. This is why I was wondering about the TCH program & V9, it would be nice to keep program swapping down to a minimum....and like was mentioned for $29 you really can not go wrong, now can ya?!

Thanks for all the responses folks, they did help!

Hey JCS why not finish off in RB if you work it up in there? Just asking?

The mains ones are...

1. Editing - I find that the editing features in RB/PTPA, tho they work, are a little to "clunky" for super fine edits. Also, I am use to Left-Clicking on the Time Line & Dragging down to Zoom In on parts, ala WaveLab, Cubase, & Studio One. This saves a lot of time over the - + method.

2. All of my main VST's work in Studio One, while some of them do not in RB V1 or 2 (there is a separate post about this)

3. The Left Side control panel takes up WAY too much screen area, and is non-adjustable as far as I can tell. This also applies to the Vertical Height of the tracks. I like to have things LARGE when editing to get right on the zero crossing.

These are the main problems for ME. I like the RB concepts, and starting today I am going to ignore BB and just focus on RB for a week or so. It intrigues me because of the ability to regenerate just certain parts of the RT/RD, something that has ALWAYS drove me nuts in BB! This is also the reason I upgraded to the Ultra Plus Pak, even tho money is tight at the moment.

I hope this answers your question!

Hey.

Use whatever tools help you to get the job done.

Not uncommon to open up projects in multiple softwares here, preferring one for a certain task over another.

Or, as we used to say back home in the Western Pennsylvania hills on drag race day, "Run what ya brung!"

I may well be wrong, but it sounds from your post that you are detail editing Audio Tracks in the Main Tracks Window. Select the the "Note" Icon for Notation and you can open the Audio Edit Window which gives a large view and does allow you to expand the display of the Audio Data down to sample sizes.

Thanks for that thought LynB, but that only works with one track, and a lot of times I need to expand 3 or more to do the edits....

Thanks Again!

And I should also say that getting down to Sample Size is not the problem, it is the WAY of getting down to that level that I don't like. PTPA is a nice basic DAW, no doubt about that!
