I did a re-install. 4 times. Do I need to do a fresh install by removing all traces of BiaB and starting over? (I am enjoying BiaB just not the frustration with the RealTracks that are giving my system fits.) I just checked in RealBand and the RealTracks all work in it just not in Band in a Box.

OMG. Sorry it ain't workin'.
Right. I suggest you completely UNinstall. Defrag your computer thoroughly and then start again from scratch. What a b****!
How much space do you have on your hard drive? You should have a MINIMUM of 15% free space.

I have 33% free on the C: drive (160 gigs), 72% free on the D: drive (200 gigs) and 90% free on the E: drive (400 gigs). Oh, I have an external I: drive for backup and storage of 1.5 terrabytes. So, free space is not an issue. I still believe the issue is in BiaB 2010 as another thread here carries the same access violation problem I am experiencing. Too bad it is the weekend and New Years. It will probably be a while before this kind of problem will be sorted out. All is not lost though, I will be on vacation in the south for a week of golf and not have to worry about this. I was hoping to have this Octatonic Bossa done before I left. Oh Well. ----I almost forgot. If I uninstall, how do I install from an upgrade copy of BiaB? Do I have to go back to the last DVD version I have and build forward from that? That would be 2008 (I think). 2009 was on a USB HD that barely functioned long enough for me to get the files off the drive. ----
Thanks for the suggestions. They are appreciated.
Rich

The upgrade is a full programme in itself. You don't need to worry about past versions

I don't see any future in trying to Uninstall.
Besides that, with BB all you would need do is trash the entire bb folder.
What I'd suggest is to simply try REinstalling the program right over top of itself, RealTracks inclusive.
When it prompts, reinstall the PGMusic Fonts and DX plugins also.
This will overwrite all but your own songfiles and would be the same thing.

I don't get any prompts in a REinstall for reinstalling PGMusic Fonts and DX plugins. The VSCplugins are given as a check mark category at the start of the install. I don't remember any indication of the fonts when installing upgraded versions of BB.
One other question possibly related:
How can I remove VST plugins? I have some VST plugins listed in BiaB that I would like to remove. I cannot find a way to do so. In the DXi pluging panel under options, an option is given to remove VSTs from the list. When I click on that I get a list alright but it is totally blank. I would like to remove some earlier versions of a Kontakt player that are no longer needed or wanted. Also I feel that this may be part of the problem with this access violation. At least someone on another thread stated something about bad VST plugins being the culprit.

The Installer may not prompt you.
At that point I might assume that I had already installed a copy of BB to the C drive at some point in time and the Fonts, etc. would still be on the system. You would know right away if they weren't, by looking at any notation view...
As far as VSTs go, BiaB doesn't "remove" them per se, but you can "exclude" BiaB from looking at them if they appear on the list.
The most probable reason that one does not appear on the list is that you have BiaB looking into a different VST storage folder than where your other VST .dll files are stored. If that is the case, those particular VSTs can't be causing a problem for BiaB because it can't "see" them anyway.
VST files, unlike DXi files, do not write to registry. If you ever want to "remove" any VST, simply move the .dll file for it out of the VST folder.

Thanks Mac,
Your explanations are always easy to follow. I have REinstalled BB a number of times and the problem still persists. Do I need to REinstall all the RealTracks and Real Drums as well, then REinstall BB? Would installing the program on a different drive help?
Thanks again. I will probably contact support when I get back from vacation if this does not give resolved in the mean time.

I wouldn't be trying to reinstall, it is not always the answer to every problem.
Your problem appears to be that the program can't load RealTracks anymore and that it once could do so.
Have you checked the RealTracks Control Console to see if the path to where your RealTracks are stored is indeed correct?

Hello Larry, Quote:
And all the offending BTO’s are dated 11/25/09 as compared to the newer 12/7/09 BTOs in same directory which do not report any errors
Thanks, we'll fix it so that it doesn't report that error.

Thanks
I assume there are no real technical issues with files just date stamp glitch. Considering how many files make up the complete RT/RDs package I'm surprised a few more don't get orphaned once in a while.

BIAB Patch 294 didn't correct so I assume there will be separate RT patch to correct this discrepancy?
Thanks Larry
