Hello all, I have 2009 megapak (I think?) and I'd like to know if I can install BIAB with all the stlyes without installing RealBand. Also if that isn't possible, will uninstalling RealBand delete things I use in BIAB? Will not installing or uninstalling Realband make me lose styles? I really haven't gotten into RealBand at all. I use BIAB and do all my editing and recording in PowerTracks. I've been using BIAB since the first PC version and the first Atari ST version years ago. When I used the Atari ST I used BIAB and Cubase. It was only MIDI at that time. There wasn't any digital audio recording in those days. I had a home studio and recorded analog multitrack on casstte, reel to reel and DAT. I LOVE using Powertracks. Once I got used to it I found it filled all my needs. I'm not knocking Realband. I just don't get it and I don't use RealTracks either. I love working with MIDI and then I just record my Guitars and or Vocals. Sorry for the long post. I just thought I should state what my uses are and how long. I've been a Musician and Songwriter for over 35 years now. First off i understand using what is comfortable. But Real Band IS powertracks, they look and function the same. The only difference is that RB does not have the TC helicon plug. Unless you have the newest version and PTPA version 12. Sure RB has the real tracks stuff, but you do not have to use it. it handles midi and audio exactly like PTPA. Plus one has the option of adding a RT or RD to the package. Adding real drums is slick, and you can do this from BiaB and RB will open the BiaB file. Also RB is not a real large file so you will not gain much to remove it.

Thanks, I have PTP 12. Thanks for the reply. I know I'm going to have to bite the bullet and learn RealBand. I don't know why I don't get it. I think because I don't use RTs, I've got a real mental block. I'll keep plugging here. Heck I remember the early days of MIDI sysex, sound modules and all that before General MIDI.

The RealBand folder size, if you've added nothing to it, will come in at well under 1gig.
If you don't want it there, you can simply delete the entire RealBand folder if your RealTracks and RealDrums are stored in C:\bb folder, which is the default.
Although with today's drive sizes, if you are down to the point where 1gig makes a difference in your freespace on disk, you are close to a very serious problem that may result in losing everything, drive included. It is a good idea to always have at least 10-15% freespace on the C drive. Minimum.
If you are getting that low in freespace, it is time to go out and get a larger drive and install it, mirroring everything to it for a new C drive. And soon.

Wayne, I was like you. I put-off learning RB for a long time because I didn't really see any point. How wrong I was! As Rob says, it's a terrifically powerful tool. What changed my mind was when I looked at the tutorial called "Introduction to Realband" on the following webpage. http://www.pgmusic.com/realbandvideos.htm It's well worth the effort learning. Wayne, I can't work out just why you find RB such a problem when you have all that experience with BIAB and PTPA. It is effectively the best of both in one programme and integrates seamlessly with BIAB. With all your experience, using it should be almost untuitive. Since it arrived, I have never bothered to upgrade my PTPA - I don't see the need for it, other than the TC Helicon
