Mac, he could also delete the "Interface.bbw" file if all else fails, correct? Not sure if that's been changed as an option in 2010.

Ed -- That is exactly what Return to Factory Settings button does.

Several versions back or so I asked Peter if he could automate the deletion of that intrface.bbw file because I was having to recommend that procedure so much on this forum. So he put that menu option together for us. After a version or so with it, he also implemented the feature that allows us to take snapshot of the intrface.bbw file and save that separately, allowing us to be able to Return to Our Last Known Working Settings rather than starting over with all factory default settings, a real treat IMO.

So there is no difference in doing it "manually" or using the Options menu button, other than using the button certainly streamlines the whole procedure, you don't have to close down BB first, etc.

intrface.bbw is a "volatile" file in the sense that BB must read it when opening and must write to it when closing. If something happens to prevent a tidy shutdown of BB, such as a freeze, crash or other foible with the program, causing bb to stop running before the Write takes place, or worse yet, in the middle of the Write, the file can easily become corrupted.
